Forgive us as we dive into this head first, accented and with some high level teen saga to offload (high level because we can't be rattling off all of the detail - we appreciate you'll understand). After offloading the biggest struggle at present we briefly talk to some trashy novels and a must watch trashy movie (hot dude). In otherwise exciting news, as of today, you can register yourself for our UPCOMING CHALLENGE. We're super pumped about this - our Finish Strong challenge will start on the 2nd November and we'll move together for 8 weeks. The purpose of this challenge is to FINISH STRONG at the end of the year - to end the year feeling awesome. We'd so love you to join us (free for members, options if you're not!) so go to our website for more info. We're otherwise ranting once again about EXERCISE in general, finding what works for you, the strength training info, the 3km JOG and all sorts of other tidbits like resilience and life being HARD! Nothing super unusual, in case you haven't picked up on that yet! Love you. We might be AWOL for one week as work takes us away, but WE WILL BE BACK! Back again - here there and everywhere as you've come to expect. We start with a rant about social media and the pain points of everything to do with it, motherhood confessions (that Jess is now over-analysing), parenting small children and parenting older children, coffee issues, a debrief from Leece after a few boujee nights away this past week and everything else in between. We look forward to our time together every week and we appreciate every one of you for downloading and listening to us rant. We joke at the end about taking a break from the pod but really, this is a valuable part to our week and we hope the same applies to you (even if we talk a lot of rubbish). We'd love to hear from you if you have any thoughts in this regard. Love and power to you, xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
We had suggested we'd come back last week with a follow up episode but when we heard crickets and the week ran away with us we decided, we'll save it for Monday. We're glad we did as the chat seemed to flow today. We had few tense moments in the last week which we dissect on the pod. As you'll find out, it was nothing major at all and just goes to show we've got progress in some form. We talk about a fair bit today from an American intro and our love to the pets to sport injuries and infected toes, an article on black market peptides (we're not experts - we're just yapping about scenarios) to feeling flat and asking the question "is this it" to being sparky and reading spicy smut. Lots to cover and a few lols. We love you for listening. PS - regarding the peptide discussion, we are not experts on this topic and our discussion is just about the 'murky' nature of the discussion and the different ways people in our outer circles seem to be using them. The key point we missed saying is that black market peptides are unregulated and haven't been approved. A reminder too to only listen in on this if this is not a triggering conversation for you. Hello! Back to the mic after a week sat poolside in Fiji. We are feeling so blessed and grateful for the week we've just had. We honestly didn't think it would ever leave the group chat and in fact it barely even made the group chat because we were too superstitious to give it any air-time. There have been a few battles going on for the family and getting together for our first overseas trip together was literal heaven on earth. We know how lucky we are and we're feeling it, even if we're somewhat blue now that we've exited the buffet breakfast. In saying that though, the group chat now being open to any topic with zero superstition is one silver lining. Today we naturally chat high level about Fiji, as well as go over some other questions we received through social media. We feel we may hit you back with a follow up episode this week as we kind of feel the need to yap some more about the detail. Leece did a doozy and didn't bring in her laptop charger today so... be back soon! Love and appreciate your patience with us - xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
Back at it for another week with a long-winded episode of waffle. We got to the end of this feeling like we'd spent a long time talking about not that much so, enjoy the dulcet tones while you clean the house/go for the walk/drive to your next destination. We love that you're here for it. We dissect a fair bit this morning - from Leece's current technology/appliance woes, to coffee and floss etiquette, kids and their unique traits, quite a positive Father's Day experience all-round and a fair bit of other - to be quite frank - mindless chatter. We really hope to be in Fiji next week so if we are, we'll miss the podcast - but, we'll be back before you know it (and hopefully that's *NOT* next week as that means shit's hit the fan - we're feeling superstitious). See you soon and thanks for your downloads. Who's with us on the roast dinner by the way? HELLO! We're back. Another week on the waffly pod with quite a lot to say. Jess is back from a month away so there is a lot to dissect - from movies and plane etiquette to UK coffee culture, a French heatwave complete with bites, travelling with kids and more. We run through a list of highlights that naturally seem to simultaneously highlight the lowlights, for what ends up being just one big post-trip purge of a conversation. Leece talks to an eventful 24 hours including oldest son Rico in the ED, Louis and his rugby games and the pet budgie. We are happy to be back in each other's company today and Jess irrationally excited to be alone. Thank you for your ongoing support to the podcast and for your listening ears xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
Got Ainslie on the mic today and as per we started with a few tech difficulties but got there in the end. Ainslie is our resident Yoga instructor who I met in 2018. I take her and you and myself on a bit of journey! We discuss her as a 15 year old boarding school brat, being a rousie on the farm and hooking up with the local shepherd, studying to be a vet tech, losing her period for seven years and how she healed her body and mind to where she is today - navigating motherhood and pregnant with her second babe. Loved this chat and I’m sure you all will enjoy it too, especially if you’ve worked out with her in the past. Thanks for listening and thanks for joining me Ainslie babe. Appreciate you, and our listeners. PS - Ains has a moment settling Bodhi around 20-25 minutes in, so please bear with us as we flit about our chat a bit! Well we are back and wow what fun to be recording two times this week with Jessy’s womb mate. Thrills. Loved this chat a lot and know you guys will too. Have not mastered writing down as we speak yet (lol) - but from memory we discuss sexy names, sexuality, introverted extroverts, finding joy (common topic) looking forward to things but actually making sure we look forward to today cos who knows what we are promised tomorrow. If anyone’s going through tough times we pray and hope the sun will come out for you soon x To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
Well, a big old mixed bag today. We didn't have enough time so we have told you, our listeners - that if you want a bonus episode this week with part two of Leece and Char - please come forward! Otherwise, here's the low down. We discuss: what is in a name? and learning to spell and like the name Lisa. Life without my boss (aka Jess) and feeling one step ahead but desp deep down missing her and grateful she's set up social media so I can do an okay job in her absence. Char taps into what Leece has been doing, from budgies to girls weekends and all asleep by 10pm. to cleaning the pits and the puss (LOL), to hope, faith and love - how's that for a tangent? Together we talk about the dark times and how prayer has helped so much; how community helps so much and what we remember about our darkest days when Dan fell sick. About perspective and wishing we had them before life got 'hard' (if only?). Appreciating life NOW before it can change and becomes harder, but if you're in the depths of turmoil right now just have faith that the sun will shine again. Char also talks about being in her head a bit and then we discuss the challenges of having one child and being their person. Remember, if you want us back for a bonus episode you have to message! Love and thank you for all for listening, Leece and Char. Hello! Another surprise wee episode with another very special guest - sis in law Sarah Mizzi aka trainer Hobbsy. This chat comes with a trigger warning as things become quite heavy discussing Sarah's angel daughter Sophia - please listen with caution if you believe this may be triggering for you. We otherwise discuss a little of everything - an update from Sarah on work, books, Stan, husband Noo (our brother) - and his great culinary skills. And then an update from me with Dan making improvements, going away for a weekend and the wonderful people I have in my world that I'm so grateful for. Thank you for listening - hope you enjoy. Thanks to sis Hobbsy, too - appreciate you. To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
Hello! Well what a thrill to have a marathon runner in my bedroom next to me today. No wardrobe in sight just the two of us on the mic debriefing all things marathon. This morning we settle in with Kirst and debrief her first ever 42km run ONLY YESTERDAY! Her sodden feet, her untied shoelaces, some panicked unintended toilet paper rationing and much more. Conditions were testing, and as anyone who has ever ran a race will know - obstacles and hurdles can be part of it! If only just for the fear of both number ones and twos unaccounted for. Does toilet talk and running go hand in hand? Kind of. Kirst is one of our very loved coaches and we are so proud of her and her husband Piers for running the full Sunny but rainy coast marathon together. What a team and an inspo they are. Hope you enjoy our chat! Thank you Kirst. PROUD! Hello! In true fashion - ie when our feng shui is mucked about and our diaries do stuff to mean we have to record at a time and place other than the usual - life throws us lemons! We had major connectivity issues today - no idea why - must've been fate/the internet knowing we're already going against the grain. Alas, we made it and if you think there are spots where our chat doesn't flow it's because we've tried to edit out the 'where have you gone' silences. We're otherwise in a big cocoon of emotions today talking about the weekend that's been as well as the next little adventure for Jess and family. We're all quite tired and there's some underlying stress but otherwise, we're good. Lots to be grateful for and apologies if we moan too much for your liking. Love you and be back soon. PS - the chat about no one liking us at the end is a joke, said light-heartedly - some days though we find social media a tough gig in that it feels more and more difficult to engage with people - and sometimes it gets us questioning things - which it shouldn't, but we're human. We're grateful. To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
Hello, not a Monday goes by where we don't need to dissect the ins and outs of being parents and the rigmarole that is second guessing ALL YOUR DECISIONS ever. Are we doing this wrong? Who are we breeding? WHAT are we breeding? So many difficult moments come from this gig and if you know us, you'll know by now that sometimes we just need to mull it all over - and in the company of our great pal and MIM trainer, Kirsty Gordy. For those that don't know, Kirst is currently training for her very first marathon - in a few weeks' time on the Sunshine Coast. We hear from Kirst about how she's feeling, what she thinks of marathon training in general and what the plan is. There are all sorts of feelings floating around between the three of us on this topic and it was fun to hear Kirst's thoughts and state of mind. Between marathon chat we're all philosophical about life, kids, moods, TV shows and other such chatter. Love your work Kirst - GET IT GIRL. See you next time xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
Last night we posted about how we recorded our podcast yesterday - as we do - but that it was a complete fail and we decided not to publish it. In response to that post, we were sent some lovely DMs and messages about how, no matter how an episode of the podcast turns out, it's a valuable resource (can we call it that?) for people, and whether we feel it's up to scratch or not, it's useful and enjoyed. Naturally we felt really warm and fuzzy after that, and with another longer and more convenient window of time today, we had the pull to try again. Here we are :) From uncovering what went wrong yesterday to the dynamics of our life stages, to teens, phones, food, hunger cravings and periods, Move with Me, kid stories and the likes - we're here with the usual. Thank you for your support and love, we appreciate it no end xx To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
Hello! School holiday Monday - first week for Jess, third week for Leece - quite the contrast. Between the school holiday juggle we managed a fun-filled hour to the mic and we're happy to be here (actually locked in the robe again today). Honestly this snippet is quite challenging to pen today as trying to remember what was discussed when you don't take notes in the wardrobe is a tough gig. We take to Taylor Swifts wedding to begin, touch on Heated Rivalry and some takeaways, parenting teens and the letting go, connecting with MIMs in the wild over the saga that is parenting, Jess's impending travel to England as well as other travel dreams, how often we change our tooth brushes and more. Lots of waffle and musings over rigmaroles and a bit of a deep dive into FUN. We received a lovely message over the weekend about the pod - that in a world of INFORMATION OVERLOAD it's nice to check out and listen to waffle rather than be fed MORE. So, we'll take that as a sign. Lots of love x To learn more about Move it Mama visit our website www.moveitmama.co.nz Join the Move it Mama app on the App Store here and the Google Play store here
OK here we go back to the mics for your waffly Monday morning. At the time of recording it's 815am in the morning for Leece and she's off the back of a high-stim morning - we can't help but kick things off and go on the journey. Following that, we're touching on everything that's been on our radar these past few weeks. From Rico's health kick to rib contouring, periods and perimenopause, overcomplicating exercise, Move with me (Leece's challenge starting Wednesday), parenting challenges, marriage counselling and HINDSIGHT. Asking lots of big questions as per but mostly just absolutely off our rocker on delivering a chat with no direction or structure. We do hear you verbal nods as you listen along and we also feel versed at pre-empting where we might also ruffle feathers or have you curse at us hehe. Anyway, business as usual and exactly what you might expect for your waffle train Monday, ripe and ready. Love you for being here! The big question is - are we the only ones up in arms about an airplane? How do they work? Who invented them? And why don't people get off in the orderly fashion anymore? DO YOU? Or are you one of those people who don't wait for the rows in front of you? Send us your thoughts - we promise not to judge (!). It's been a hot minute since we've hit this podcast so a big thank you for your patience and understanding in our absence. We don't ever want to leave the pod in the lurch and do our utmost not to - so thank you for being patient with us about the unexpected hiatus. We're back just scraping the surface on what has been an eventful few weeks for the both of us. We've had the best time together in both Wellington and Christchurch, and the time has been made even more special with extra family members and close friends thrown in the mixer. We talk about airplanes, kids, tantrums, kid sport, kids and phones and a big old NZ trip recap from start to finish. Lots in the mix of it all and hope you enjoy the catch up and relate to some of our Monday musings. See you soon! Today we feel so grateful to our other sister in law, Sarah, for very bravely sharing her journey with infant loss and miscarriage. We must preface this podcast to alert you of the fact this conversation may be triggering for some of our audience, as Sarah very courageously opens up about her experience to date; as mother of Stanley, earth side, and sweet Sophia, who flies high up amongst the stars. Sarah is passionate about speaking up and normalising these difficult conversations. We thank you so much sissy, for sharing this with us as well as our listeners. Please remember to be kind, and please remember if you need help, there are many pathways to help available. From our respective wardrobes to you, our dear listener, with love. HELLO! Thank you for your patience in regards to our unexpected week off last week. Thank you, too, for your support and encouragement to the previous week of podcasts - the waffle-pod Monday, our podcast with Fee and our second book club rendezvous with Hobbsy. It's so fun to hear from you about each episode and we look forward to your feedback week on week! Today is an exciting day because, as luck would have it (or rather it being King's birthday) we have Char in to join us aboard the sister debrief. We begin with Char telling us a bit about her new and very exciting job - naturally we talk a bit about the challenging few years she's had and how things have generally been for her. Her appreciation for how difficult a redundancy can be and everything that comes with that, for one. We then recap the Kiwi Yarns podcast show in Auckland with Brodie Kane, which *then* leads on to one big conversation around the sister dynamic, fomo, and all sorts of complicated and complex feelings between the three of us. We take a segue - as per usual - to life with phones, trying to look up and the reality of life now in this tech-world. All topped off with the sparkle spreader and, despite some challenging times, there's a lot to be grateful for. Like you guys - a big thank you, to all of you for listening.
