This is one of the hardest truths I've ever had to accept. No one becomes a better person because of a drink. That doesn't mean people who drink are bad people. Far from it. It means alcohol never helps us become more authentic, more present, or more connected. It simply creates the illusion that it does. In this episode, I explore why alcohol convinces us we're becoming the person we want to be, why that illusion is so powerful, and why the greatest transformation begins when you finally meet the real you. What You'll Learn: Why alcohol creates the illusion of becoming a better version of yourself The difference between your authentic self and your alcohol-fuelled self How alcohol quietly fills the "gaps" we believe exist in our personality Why confidence built on alcohol is never lasting confidence The freedom that comes from showing up as your true self Timestamps: 00:00 – 02:00 The uncomfortable truth about alcohol 02:00 – 06:00 Why alcohol tricks us into believing we're better people 06:00 – 10:00 The illusion of confidence and "filling the gaps" in our personality 10:00 – 14:00 What authenticity really looks like without alcohol 14:00 – End Why your authentic self is your greatest superpower If this episode has inspired you to explore coaching, I'd love to invite you to join my Diploma in Coaching & Positive Psychology (DCPP) cohort and train to become a life and executive coach. What if the secret to transforming your mornings isn't another productivity hack? What if it's removing the one thing that's stealing them in the first place? For years, I believed I didn't have time. I thought I was too busy, too tired, and too stretched to exercise, study, write, or work on the life I really wanted. The truth was, I wasn't losing my mornings because of my schedule. I was losing them because of alcohol. In this episode, I share how going alcohol-free unlocked the Miracle Morning, why those quiet hours before the world wakes up became the foundation for everything I've built, and how just a few intentional minutes each morning can completely change the direction of your life. What You'll Learn: Why alcohol quietly steals your mornings and your momentum How the Miracle Morning became the foundation of my transformation The power of Hal Elrod's SAVERS method Why consistency beats intensity when building life-changing habits How one extra hour each morning can compound into extraordinary results Timestamps: 00:00 – 04:00 Why alcohol-free mornings change everything 04:00 – 09:00 Discovering the Miracle Morning and creating time for yourself 09:00 – 15:00 How early mornings transformed my health, career, and coaching journey 15:00 – 20:00 The SAVERS framework and how to make it a daily habit 20:00 – End Building a life of purpose, one morning at a time If you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful. Going alcohol-free isn't just about giving up a drink. It's about having the courage to question everything. The beliefs you've inherited. The stories you've been told. The assumptions you've accepted simply because everyone else believes them too. In this episode, I explore why choosing a different path takes courage, but why it's also one of the most rewarding decisions you can ever make. I share how removing alcohol became the first domino in a complete transformation of my life, leading me to question my career, my health, my beliefs, and ultimately the way I wanted to live. Because once you realise you don't have to follow the crowd, a whole new world of possibility opens up. For years, I thought I was showing up at my best on a Monday. Looking back, I wasn't even close. Like so many people, I was caught in a cycle of drinking, recovering, surviving, and calling it normal. I had no idea just how much alcohol was quietly stealing from me, not just my health, but my energy, ambition, focus, relationships, and productivity. In this episode, I explore why I believe alcohol is the world's biggest productivity killer, how it quietly puts a lid on our potential, and why removing it gives you an unfair advantage in every area of life. I also share the story of how going alcohol-free became one of the biggest competitive advantages in my own business, helping us break into one of the toughest industries imaginable. If you've ever wondered what life could look like if you consistently showed up as your best self, this episode is for you. What You'll Learn: Why alcohol quietly robs us of productivity, ambition, and momentum How the "Hero on Monday, Zero on Thursday" cycle keeps people underperforming The competitive advantage of living and working alcohol-free Why workplace drinking culture costs businesses billions every year How removing alcohol unlocks your true potential at work and at home Timestamps: 00:00 – 04:00 Why alcohol is the world's biggest productivity killer 04:00 – 09:00 The hidden cycle of underperformance most people never see 09:00 – 13:00 How going alcohol-free transformed my business career 13:00 – 19:00 The real cost of workplace drinking culture 19:00 – End Why alcohol-free living is the ultimate productivity hack Going Dry Documentary Premiere Join us for the first public screening of Going Dry at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival on 8th July 2026 at Cinema Nova, Melbourne . When I first considered taking a break from alcohol, my biggest fear wasn't missing the drink. It was losing myself. Who would I be without alcohol? Would I still be fun? Would people still like me? Would I still be confident enough to walk into a room, dance at weddings, connect with people, and feel like I belonged? Looking back, I realise those fears had very little to do with alcohol and everything to do with identity. In this episode, I explore one of the biggest hidden challenges of going alcohol-free: rediscovering who you really are underneath the persona alcohol creates. I share my own experience, the stories I told myself for years, and why I now believe that finding your authentic self is one of the greatest gifts of this entire journey. What You'll Learn: Why fear of losing your identity keeps so many people stuck How alcohol creates a version of ourselves that isn't truly authentic The difference between confidence and alcohol-fuelled confidence Why authenticity is one of the greatest gifts of alcohol-free living How removing alcohol helps you reconnect with who you really are Timestamps: 00:00 – 04:00 My biggest fear about going alcohol-free04:00 – 08:00 The alcohol persona and losing touch with your authentic self 08:00 – 12:00 Why we fear being judged, rejected, or left behind 12:00 – 17:00 The power of showing up as the real you 17:00 – End The treasure waiting on the other side of alcohol-free living Going Dry Documentary Premiere Join us for the first public screening of Going Dry at the Melbourne Documentary Film Festival on 8th July 2026 at Cinema Nova, Melbourne . Breaking news. My Dryy adventure is over. After more than four incredible years, the Dryy app and community has come to an end. But this isn't a story about failure. It's a story about impact, courage, learning, and what happens when you dare to take a swing at something that matters. In this episode, I reflect on the journey that Matt Pink and I embarked on together, helping tens of thousands of people transform their relationship with alcohol through the Dryy community. I share why I'm incredibly proud of what we built, the lessons I've learned from entrepreneurship, and why this ending feels more like a beginning. Most importantly, I explore one of the greatest gifts of alcohol-free living: becoming a dreamer of the day. The kind of person who stops talking about change and starts creating it. Because when alcohol is no longer stealing your time, energy, confidence, and momentum, extraordinary things start to happen. What You'll Learn: Why the end of Dryy is something I'm celebrating, not mourning The lessons entrepreneurship teaches us about growth and resilience Why alcohol can quietly become a killer of dreams and ambition The difference between talking about change and taking action How becoming alcohol-free helps you become a "dreamer of the day" Timestamps: 00:00 – 03:00 The end of Dryy and how it all began 03:00 – 06:00 What we achieved and why I'm so proud of the journey 06:00 – 09:00 What's next for me and the alcohol-free movement 09:00 – 13:00 Why alcohol quietly steals dreams, confidence, and momentum 13:00 – End Becoming a dreamer of the day and creating your best life If you’re curious about becoming a coach, I run a free live workshop where I’ll show you how this all works and how you can turn it into something meaningful and purposeful. What if I told you that almost every reason people drink alcohol is actually created by alcohol itself? Stress. Anxiety. Escapism. Boredom. Even the need to relax. In this episode, I unpack what I call The Doom Loop . A powerful catch-22 that keeps millions of people stuck in an endless cycle where alcohol appears to be the solution, while secretly being the cause of the problem. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. This is one of the most important concepts I've ever shared because understanding the doom loop changes everything. What You'll Learn: Why alcohol creates many of the problems it claims to solve The science behind stress, sleep, and the alcohol anxiety cycle How the "doom loop" keeps people trapped in unwanted habits Why relaxation through alcohol is an illusion How to break the cycle and build healthier ways to relax and unwind Timestamps: 00:00 – 04:00 What is the doom loop and why it matters 04:00 – 08:00 The catch-22 that keeps drinkers stuck 08:00 – 12:00 How alcohol creates stress while pretending to relieve it 12:00 – 16:00 The hidden loops of anxiety, escapism, and boredom 16:00 – End Breaking free from the doom loop for good If you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/). This episode was sparked by something I recently came across that genuinely frustrated me. Not because it was provocative, but because it touched on a belief about alcohol that I think so many of us have accepted without ever stopping to question. The idea got under my skin enough that I felt compelled to unpack it properly. Because when I look back at my own drinking career, I don't see alcohol making me a better version of myself. I see something very different. This is a powerful conversation about identity, authenticity, and becoming the person you were always meant to be. What You'll Learn: Why alcohol can create the illusion of confidence and connection The difference between your authentic self and your alcohol-created persona How alcohol slowly creates the very problems it appears to solve Why many of us become attached to a version of ourselves that isn't real How removing alcohol helps you reconnect with your true identity Timestamps: 00:00 – 03:00 A belief about alcohol that got under my skin 03:00 – 06:00 Confidence, personality, and my early drinking years 06:00 – 10:00 The illusion of becoming someone better through alcohol 10:00 – 14:00 How alcohol pulls us away from our authentic self 14:00 – End Why alcohol-free living helps you become who you really are If you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/). Ibiza. No alcohol. For most people, those two things simply do not belong in the same sentence. But that’s exactly what happened on our recent reinvention retreat, where a group of complete strangers came together in Ibiza without a drop of alcohol. And honestly? It turned into one of the most powerful, connected, joyful experiences I’ve ever been part of. In this episode, I unpack what really happens when people remove alcohol from social situations, retreats, holidays, and connection. Because what I witnessed in Ibiza completely challenged the old belief that alcohol creates fun. I actually think the opposite is true. This episode is about authenticity, connection, energy, and what becomes possible when people stop numbing themselves and start showing up fully as who they really are. What you’ll learn: Why alcohol-free environments create deeper connection and authentic relationships What really happens when strangers meet without alcohol involved How alcohol often creates fake confidence and fake connection Why alcohol-free retreats unlock more joy, energy, and transformation The hidden ways alcohol steals momentum, presence, and real fun Timestamps: 00:00 – 03:00 Graduation celebrations and heading to Ibiza 03:00 – 05:00 My old relationship with Ibiza and alcohol 05:00 – 08:00 What happens when strangers connect without drinking 08:00 – 11:00 How alcohol would have changed the entire retreat dynamic 11:00 – End Why alcohol-free connection is more powerful than ever If you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/). A 17 year old completely destroyed me at a party recently. I told him I hadn’t had a drink for 12 years and he hit me with: “That’s really boring.” Then came the knockout punch: “I bet you’re fun at parties.” Honestly, it made me laugh. But once the dust settled, it got me thinking about just how deeply ingrained our cultural beliefs around alcohol really are. Before he’s even legally allowed to drink, he already believes alcohol equals fun and not drinking equals boring. So in this episode, I decided to properly challenge that idea once and for all. And spoiler alert… I think we’ve got this whole thing completely backwards. What you’ll learn: Why society teaches us that alcohol equals fun from a very young age The “bore-off” exercise that completely reframes drinking How alcohol quietly creates many of the things we find boring in life Why alcohol-free living creates more energy, joy, confidence, and connection How to challenge the beliefs that keep you stuck in the drinking cycle Timestamps: 00:00 – 03:00 Graduations, retreats, documentaries, and a huge week ahead 03:00 – 05:00 The 17 year old who called me boring 05:00 – 08:00 The “bore-off” and redefining what boring really means 08:00 – 11:00 Why alcohol creates the very problems it pretends to solve 11:00 – End Why alcohol-free living is actually the most exciting adventure of all If you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/). In this episode, I share a powerful reminder of how to create lasting behavioral change without relying on the exhausting and unreliable tool of willpower. This conversation is for anyone on an alcohol-free adventure who has ever felt "cursed by the willpower gods" or frustrated by their inability to just "decide and change." This is not about grit or suffering through temptation. It is about understanding the "Willpower Free Method," identifying the love-hate relationship of ambivalence, and learning how to tip the scales so that living your best life becomes the easiest choice you can make. What you’ll learn in this episode: The truth about the Marshmallow Study and what it really means for your success Why willpower is like a "metaphorical muscle" that runs out by the end of the day The fatal flaw in the willpower-only approach to quitting anything How "Ambivalence" (the love-hate relationship) creates the need for willpower in the first place The Story of the 3 Andys: How perspective shifts from age 25 to 45 Why life is a "beliefs game" rather than a test of psychological endurance Practical steps to tip your internal scales to "all love" or "all hate" for effortless change Timestamps 00:00 – 02:00 Why we think we lack willpower (and why we're wrong) 02:00 – 04:30 Connecting with Sarah: The domino effect of positivity 04:30 – 07:30 The Marshmallow Study: Delaying gratification vs. facing temptation 07:30 – 11:30 The data on success and the "Cookie vs. Radish" willpower test 11:30 – 14:30 Why your willpower tanks are empty by evening 14:30 – 18:30 Life is a beliefs game: Lessons from the Stoics and NLP 18:30 – 21:00 Unlocking the code: How ambivalence drives your habits 21:00 – 23:00 The 3 Andys: Moving from conflict to the "Moonwalk" of freedom 23:00 – End Tipping the scales and the Willpower Free methodology If you have ever felt called to something more, or sensed that your current path is not fully using who you are, this episode is for you. In this episode, I dive into one of the biggest hidden barriers to success in both coaching and alcohol-free living: overthinking. So many people get stuck trying to figure everything out before they take action. They want the perfect plan, the perfect moment, the perfect version of themselves before they begin. But that’s not how growth works. I share why taking imperfect action is the real key to momentum, how overthinking keeps you stuck, and what you can do to break free from it starting today. If you’ve ever felt like you’re “thinking about it” more than actually doing it, this episode is for you. What you’ll learn: Why overthinking is one of the biggest blockers to progress How perfectionism keeps you stuck and stops momentum The power of taking action before you feel ready Why clarity comes from doing, not thinking Simple ways to build confidence through action Timestamps: 00:00 – 03:00 Why overthinking is keeping you stuck 03:00 – 06:00 The trap of perfection and waiting to feel ready 06:00 – 09:00 Why action creates clarity and confidence 09:00 – 12:00 Breaking the cycle of hesitation and doubt 12:00 – End Taking action and building momentum in your life If you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/). In this episode, I share one of the most powerful stories ever told about personal transformation, the story of the two wolves. This simple idea has the power to completely reshape how you see your thoughts, your habits, and ultimately your life. I also connect this story to alcohol-free living, showing how what you focus on daily determines the quality of your life. If you’ve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed, or like life is happening to you rather than for you, this episode will give you a new lens to see everything differently. What you’ll learn: Why the “two wolves” story explains almost all human behaviour How your focus shapes your emotions and your entire life experience The hidden way alcohol feeds negativity, stress, and disconnection Why joy is something you train, not something you wait for Simple daily habits to shift your mindset and transform your life Timestamps: 00:00 – 03:00 April reflections, coaching events, and confidence rituals 03:00 – 06:00 Coaching, purpose, and why human connection matters more than ever 06:00 – 09:00 The story of the two wolves and what it really means 09:00 – 12:00 How alcohol feeds the “wrong wolf” and impacts your mindset 12:00 – End Feeding the wolf of joy and building a life you truly love If you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/). In this episode, I tackle one of the biggest beliefs that keeps people stuck in the drinking cycle: the idea that alcohol is fun. It’s a story most of us have told ourselves for years, but is it actually true? I break this down from every angle, exploring how our brains create and reinforce this belief, even when our lived experience tells a very different story. This is about getting honest, challenging the narrative, and seeing alcohol for what it really is. Once you start to question the idea that drinking equals fun, everything begins to shift. Because when that belief falls apart, so does the hold alcohol has over you. If you’ve ever felt torn between knowing alcohol isn’t serving you and still believing it’s “fun,” this episode will help you cut through the noise and see the truth clearly. In this episode, I dive into the real science of change and why slip-ups are not something to fear, but something to expect. So many of us believe that if we decide to change, we should be able to do it perfectly. And when we don’t, we beat ourselves up and assume something is wrong with us. The truth is very different. I explore the powerful “spiral of change” model and share insights from one of the world’s leading experts on behaviour change. You’ll see why lasting transformation is not about willpower or perfection, but about learning, adapting, and evolving over time. I also open up about my own journey, the identity shift that comes with going alcohol-free, and how embracing your authentic self is the real key to freedom and confidence. If you’ve ever felt stuck, frustrated, or like you keep “failing” at change, this episode will completely reframe how you see the process. What you’ll learn: Why slip-ups are a crucial part of lasting change, not a sign of failure The truth about willpower and why it’s not the key to transformation How the spiral of change works and why you’re never back at zero The role of identity and stories in keeping you stuck How to turn setbacks into powerful learning that moves you forward Timestamps: 00:00 – Why we resist change and stay stuck 04:00 – My story with alcohol and the identity trap 09:30 – The stages of change and what science tells us 14:30 – Why slip-ups happen and how to use them 20:00 – The real secret to long-term transformation Links & Resources: Join my free coaching webinar TONIGHT at 7 PM. This is one of the most important shifts you can ever make on your alcohol-free journey. For years, I thought I had a drinking problem. That I needed more discipline, more willpower, more control. But I was focusing on the wrong thing. In this episode I break down the real reason we struggle with alcohol, and it has nothing to do with the drink itself. It’s about how we think. What You’ll Learn In This Episode Why alcohol is not the problem and thinking is How your beliefs shape your emotions and actions The three versions of “you” and how they experience alcohol differently Why willpower fails and what actually creates lasting change How mastering your mindset transforms every area of your life Timestamps 00:00 – 03:00 Why this is a thinking problem, not a drinking problem 03:00 – 07:00 The three versions of you and alcohol explained0 7:00 – 10:00 Why willpower doesn’t work long term 10:00 – 14:00 Changing beliefs to change behaviour 14:00 – End Using this insight to transform your entire life If you want to go deeper and actually learn how to rewire your thinking, come and join me at Coach Business School (https://coachbusiness.school/).
