Mishary Rashid Alafasy also spelled Mishari Rashid Al-Afasy or Mishary Alafasy is a highly popular and distinguished Quran reciter and Nasheed artist from Kuwait. Born in 1976 he is globally recognized for his unique clear and soothing voice which has garnered immense admiration. He completed the memorization of the Holy Quran at the College of the Quran and Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Madinah specializing in the ten Qira’at (recitation styles) of the Quran. He primarily recites in the Hafs ‘an Asim narration but is known for his proficiency in various styles. Digital Quranic archives feature an extensive collection of his complete Quranic recitations and various individual surahs. Sheikh Mishary Rashid Alafasy serves as an Imam at the Grand Mosque in Kuwait City and frequently leads prayers during Ramadan. He is also a well-known Nasheed artist having released numerous albums of Islamic songs. His recordings are widely broadcast on television radio and online platforms making him one of the most listened-to reciters worldwide.
