Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Ally Ally is a homesteader and mother of two in the United States in West Georgia, where she and her husband are building their first homestead completely from scratch. You can find her on YouTube by searching for Ally Roberson (@allylothman), where she shares her journey of growing food, raising animals, and living connected to nature on their 2.5-acre farm. Ally is passionate about family-centered pregnancy and birth. She recently welcomed her second child, an incredible 11-pound baby boy (which is almost a 5 kg baby!) right on the homestead in a powerful home birth. Her story beautifully embodies trusting the body’s wisdom, reclaiming birth as a sacred family experience, and most importantly overcoming the negative story society tells us about birth. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Mia. Mia is a mama of two originally from Montreal, Canada, now living in Norway. Mia is a certified doula, Sacred Birthworker, and a Mama Blessing ceremony facilitator who is deeply passionate about physiological birth and supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Her work extends to facilitating women’s circles, retreats, and organizing wellness events and festivals in Norway, Portugal, Canada, and beyond. With a deep love for art and holistic psychology, Mia is completing her Master’s degree in Art Therapy, weaving together creativity, ritual, authentic relating, and evidence-based therapeutic practice. She facilitates Prenatal Art Therapy sessions and is dedicated to creating meaningful spaces where women can reconnect with themselves, cultivate supportive sisterhood, and embrace the transformative journey of motherhood. In this heartfelt episode, Mia shares the story of her daughter’s profoundly easeful and mystical home water birth, which unfolded in less than 90 minutes. She reflects on the power of surrender, the innate intelligence of the birthing body, and the simple yet profound practices that allowed her to experience birth as peaceful, instinctive, and deeply empowering. Mia explores the mindset shifts that shaped her experience, including replacing the idea of contractions with expansions, and how softening into each wave allowed her body to lead the way. She shares what it felt like to experience the ferguson reflex, welcome her daughter through a gentle partial lotus birth, and emerge with a profound sense of peace, awe, and trust in the wisdom of birth. She also reflects on the magic of the first hours postpartum, resting in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by candles and soft galaxy lights, holding and breastfeeding her baby while her doula filled the room with gentle guitar songs from the Amazon jungle, creating an atmosphere of deep peace, love, and reverence. This episode is an invitation to reimagine what birth can be when women feel deeply safe, supported, and connected to their own inner knowing. Curious about Mia? Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Carla Carla is an Italian–Brazilian soprano mama of two based in Berlin. She’s married to the wonderful Hungarian Tamas and she recently completed her training as a psychoanalyst and is preparing a new series of concerts and recitals beginning in October. In 2022 she welcomed her first child, Sofia, in a home birth that she shared on this podcast. And this May she gave birth to her son Piero, a big boy of 4.4 kg, also at home with a devoted, loving team. Both births were among the most challenging and empowering experiences of her life. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Kayla. Kayla from a mama of two from South Africa and this is her second natural home birth that she shares on the poddy. I actually know Kayla through The Sacred Birth Worker Mentorship that she joined at the end of her first pregnancy with her little boy. She ended up birthing in the first weeks of the mentorship and found so much support in our community and sisterhood. She shares that she thoroughly enjoy and respect birth, and therefore she decided to became a Sacred Birth Worker. She wants women to know that natural birth is their birth right and to feel empowered by the life-changing experience of birth. Her second baby arrived fast and furiously, a truly precipitous birth where the midwife never made it and her baby was born partially en caul and it was one of the most beautiful experiences of Kaylas life. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Elena Elena is a mama of one from the UK. She is an entrepreneur and a founder of two companies, and someone who changed her mind about home birth at 37 weeks pregnant. She’d spent most of her pregnancy assuming she’d be in a birth centre. Then something changed which she shares about in this episode and she decided to birth at home. By the time labour started, she was at home, in a pool, comb in hand, positive affirmations stuck to the wall in front of her. When her waters broke it was filled with meconium, the pressure to transfer was real. The medical system pulls hard in those moments. Elena held her ground anyway - not because she was reckless, but because she had done the work, she trusted her body, and she believed her baby was strong. This is the story that unfolds. She’s here to share what that it actually felt like, her fears, the preparation, the moments where it could have gone a different way, and why she’d do it all again at home. Curious about Elena? Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Lonneke. This is her 2nd time on the podcast. Her first episode is one of our top 10 episodes of all time called “The Magic of Surrendering to Birth”. Lonneke is an intuitive mama of three children from the Netherlands. Her first birth awakened such a deep inner knowing that it transformed her life entirely. She went from being a military officer to an herbalist, and built an apothecary especially for mothers. All of her children were born at home with just her husband present. With each birth, she dove deeper into her intuition, which ultimately led her to a wild pregnancy for her third child. She received the clear message that her daughter did not want to be born in water, which brought a new experience after two previous water births. Curious about Lonneke? Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Emma. Emma is a mama of two from New Brunswick, Canada. She is incredibly passionate about physiological birth and a woman’s personal intuition of this natural event. Unfortunately there is very little access to natural pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support in her province in Canada, so navigating this world was challenging in both her pregnancies. Her first birth was followed and attended in hospital by a doula, though things did not unfold as hoped. With lots of emotional and physical preparation, her most recent birth was a redemptive, beautiful free-birth in her ensuite bathtub with her most intimate family members and best friend of over 20 years present. Hanna and her family has chosen to step out of the every day hamster wheel life and is now living in a little red cabin in the countryside not too far away from where I live actually, where she works a lot in her garden. She grows food and spends a lot of time out in the woods and her aim is a slow paced life. And she is on the path of becoming a Parish Educator and is in the process of heading back home Down under to Australia. Today she shares about her natural hospital birth in Australia and her fast home birth in her red little cabin here in the woods of Sweden. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Rocio. Rocio is a mama of one originally from Cuba, a citizen of the US now living in the Dominican Republic. She's a writer, seeker, and huge birth nerd. Flying out to have an autonomous birth in the Dominican Republic at 38 weeks was a big part of her life long search for true freedom. She is a political refugee from Cuba and the daughter of an ObGyn Mother. The themes of fleeing a dictatorial government, immigration, and what freedom really means, led her on a deep spiritual search early in her life which contributed to her choice to birth autonomously with only her partner in the room. She's currently writing a memoir on these topics, and deeply enjoying her first year and a half of motherhood in the Dominican Republic. In today's episode she shares her freebirth story with us. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Saide. Saide is a mama of one little new born baby from Canada. She always knew she was going to have a home birth as her own mama birthed her and her siblings at home and all of her friends were home birthed too, so it was just the norm in her circles. She went on a journey to find the right midwife for her and she wouldn't settle until it felt just right, which took her to the very end of her pregnancy. In the end she ended up having a natural home water birth, just as she had envisioned. In this episode we also discuss coming of birth control and the effects of that, having an anterior cervical lip and the actual truth about that and how listening to your own inner voice and intuition is the most powerful tool in pregnancy, birth and motherhood. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Rose. Rose is one of my sacred birth worker graduates and one of the longest listeners to this podcast. It’s so fabulous to finally get to invite her onto the show. Rose is a very private person who is active in her Brooklyn in person community, but not at all online. She is absolutely fascinated by birth and it’s her calling to serve in this field. And what better guide and companion than a mama of 8, soon to be 9. Rose's first baby unfortunately passed in her womb, and this is where Rose’s story starts. When she became pregnant with her next baby she went to birth in the hospital. And although the experience was pleasant and as natural as possible, she wished for something greater which propelled her to take the giant leap into home birth. Since then she has birthed all her babies at home with each birth bringing her to a unique journey of surrender and growth. It’s not every day that you get to listen to a mamas 8 birth stories. I hope you will thoroughly enjoy all her birthing wisdom. Since Rose is not on social media you can find her whatsapp details & email in the show notes if you’re curious about connecting with her Phone/Whatsapp : 2124647150 Email : g6637721@gmail.com As mentioned, Rose is an OG Natural Birth Podcast listener, who’s listened from the very first month I started this podcast over 6 years ago. I love that some of you are hardcore birth nerds and loyal listeners, and maybe you are one of these OG listeners like Rose. And maybe it’s because you have this insatiable hunger to learn everything about pregnancy and birth and just want to be in this energy all the time? I know that when Rose finally took the step and followed her inner calling into birth work she told me she’d been thinking about it for years, listening to the invites each round until one day finally deciding it was time. Because to be honest, if you are waiting for the right time to follow your inner longing and calling it might just never happen… because let’s face it, life happens all the time, and it’s usually always a lot. And we can always find excuses about time, money, life circumstances, etc. But if a working mama of 7 can do it, there really is no real excuse. It’s just a priority. To prioritize your dream, your calling and leaning into the unknown and trusting just like in birth, that you are going to be cared for by the great mystery of life in following your passion and purpose. If this rings true to you, the doors are now open for the next round of the sacred birth worker mentorship starting on the 21st of September. The early bird offer is now activated so all the more reason to decide to take the leap of faith and follow your heart's longing! Now let’s dive into Rose's amazing birth stories.

Kate is a mother raising three wild and beautiful boys amongst barefoot days, intentional family living, and the everyday magic of home in northern NSW Australia. In the area I used to live. She is deeply passionate about soulful birth, motherhood, ritual, connection, and creating a life that feels soft, grounded, and true. In this episode, Kate shares her journey through birth and motherhood, how each pregnancy deepened her trust in herself, and how following her inner voice led her toward an incredibly intuitive and empowering free birth experience. Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Kirsty. Kirsty is a mama of two from the Scottish Highlands and it’s her second time on the natural birth podcast. Her first time ended up being the episode called “Cholestasis and Rh negative First Time Mama Kirsty’s Home Birth in Rural Scotland”. In that episode she discussed how she naturally medicated her cholestasis diagnosis and in today's episode she will share what she did to prevent getting it again during her second pregnancy, as well as the story of the birth of her second baby which was a rapid 2hr 20min labour and birth. It resulted in Kirsty birthing her baby alone with just her husband at home in front of the fire because the midwives didn't make it on time. Although it was an unplanned free birth it was a wonderful experience and the perfect way to welcome their little one into the family. Curious about Kirsty? Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Jelena Jelena is a mama of one from Sweden. She is a modern medicine woman, artist and mother to Nahuel. She’s also a mentor for women who want to reconnect to their cyclical rhythms, nature and the sacred. She lives some parts of the year in the Swedish forest and some parts of the year in Colombia together with her husband Omar Romero and their son. Together they weave the wisdom from the jungle in the south, with the Nordic medicines, through healing ceremonies, retreats and events. She gave birth in Sweden, in their cottage house, deep in the forest together with my friend and home birth midwife Sigrid and I was a small part of her story as I wasn’t far away that day that she birthed her baby which we will mention in her story today. Curious about Jelena? Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Jolanda Jolanda is a mama of one beautiful six-month-old daughter from the Netherlands now living in the forest of Sweden. She is a Holistic Coach, and a Deep Rest Facilitator. Her journey through years of illness and trauma guided her back home to her body and taught her how to truly receive the gift of rest. It also led her to Sweden, where she followed her heart to live surrounded by nature and stillness. She finds deep meaning in creating nervous-system-friendly spaces for rest and connection, spaces where people can feel truly seen, heard, and held And today she shares her story of becoming pregnant after years of healing long covid and birthing her baby at home, with my good friend home birth midwife Sigrid. And how instead of a head, a bum peaked out as she birthed her baby at home. And as most babies, hers birthed without an issue. Breech birth is just a variation of normal. Curious about Jolanda? Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Miranda. Miranda is a mother of 5 and soon to be 6 from the US, now living in Berlin. She has always believed in the power of pregnancy and birth and thinks the legacy of both is one of the great honors of being a woman. Miranda first came to natural birth 12 years ago primarily out of curiosity but has evolved into a woman who owns this rite of passage as a lesson for life. After her 4th baby she started the journey of becoming a midwife at the same university as me on the Gold Coast in Australia. She ended up not finishing as she decided to have her 5th baby and is now working as a doula in Berlin. Miranda has had 4 natural hospital births, 3 in Australia and one 1 in Israel and her 5th was a free birth with just her husband. 3 of her babies were naturally conceived and 2 were IVF and her 6th baby currently in her womb was a natural conception. And, as Miranda shares in the episode, she believes SIBO - small intestine bacterial overgrowth which is a gut issue, was the cause of her unexplained infertility with her 4th and 5th needing the help of IVF. I love how Miranda can showcase for the women going through IVF that you don’t have to continue with a highly medicalised pregnancy and birth which is usually the case. IVF does not in itself make a high risk pregnancy. Curious about Miranda? Find her on Instagram as @Miritellsall Curious about what’s happening at the Midwitch Cottage this summer? Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Cornelia. Cornelia is a mother of two from Sweden and a midwife, having attended around 50 home births and nearly 400 hospital births. She’s the daughter of my friend and home birth midwife Kirsten who’s a guest teacher for the Swedish midwifery craft training I am starting this summer here in Sweden and it’s such a pleasure to have her on. Her mother being the home birth midwife of the village all her life, her connection to birth began early. At just 8 years old, she witnessed her first birth, and since then she has carried a deep knowing that birth is a natural process of life. For her own births, she chose to have her mother as her midwife. A decision rooted not only in trust of her competence, but in the deep safety of their relationship, something she believes is essential in birth. Her first birth began under a super full moon, starting with gentle, menstrual-like sensations that quickly intensified through the night. As labor unfolded, she turned inward, listening to her body and even checking her own progress with her fingers inside. Her second birth also began during the night. This time, the waves were strong from the very beginning, yet still completely manageable. The final moments were deeply intense, requiring full surrender, and soon after, her baby slipped into her own hands. Both births were fast and her stories of deep trust, instinct, and surrender to the power of birth. Today she shares about her 3 births.
