Somehow I’ve never heard of Monster of the Week and I absolutely want to play this game. We should try to set something up, so if anyone wants to run this game leave a comment below and we can set something up. It’s pretty tough trying to incorporate a moral dilemma when players don’t care about morality. Ultimately this is just a player, playing the wrong kind of game. Honestly, it is a happy ending. It’s easy to recognize when you aren’t having fun and try to figure out a way to make it better. The DM being stubborn and refusing to see how the changes to the games system would kill any enjoyment for playing a caster is wild. Who would enjoy taking a turn just to fail repeatedly? DND is about player agency and having a good time, the DM should be fudging rolls in the players favor not the other way around. This story happened about 15 years ago when I and my group were all inexperienced and living together in university. We played all kinds of systems and settings and loved to play long-haul homebrews. At the point this story takes place we had already played many systems together and now wanted a go at the gothic noir Vampire the Masquerade setting with a 50/50 split of brutal combat and political backdealing. You might be asking yourself…what is the difference between a daemon and a demon. Well, according to my research, The essential difference between a "daemon" and a "demon" is that a daemon is any spirit, good or bad, including the spirit of a living human, while a demon is exclusively a bad spirit. A daemon can also be controlled if you know the daemon’s name which according to other folklore is also applicable to demons. But hey, it's homebrew so I’m sure the DM in this case provided more background. Still, what a hill to die on because of a miscommunication. What in the alt-right history is this? I actually really enjoy the idea of modern day campaigns, one of my all time favorites that I played was a Red Dawn style GURPS game where we built ourselves as characters and wolvered all over the red devils that decided to invade. I feel like we should make shirts that say, “I finished a six year campaign and all I got was this baby”. What a complete failure on the DMs part. How narrow minded and simple to think that the only meaningful contribution or plot device a female character can have is “get pregnant”.
