Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com We're a little later today, but we were able to get some time with Lewis, and a guest co-host when Lewis had to go. For those of you who partook in the time change, hope you're well adjusted and ready to talk election wind-up, our take on the Indian Act, are we still speaking as Europeans? And more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com National Post columnist Tristin Hopper stops in to break down the recent BC elections.
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com Yes, we say that a lot, and it's true; Vancouver is about to find out. We'll talk about the municipal vote in BC, the provincial vote in BC, municipal elections in Ontario, a referendum in Alberta, and, sadly, a horrible tragedy in Alberta. And more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com Election season has certainly sucked up the oxygen this week, and we'll break it down for you. Plus, does Canada really need 15 million Indian nationals? Does the government want to tax your home? And more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com Not that this is a new thing, but governments really need to learn to listen to the people who elect them. Not that he's an elected official, but Chris Alexander could be paving the way to send Chairman Chow out of office, David Eby continues to prove that he's not ready for the election that he called, and that thing about Canada's economy creating more jobs than the US? Um, yeah. And more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com At some point in time, a government actually has to show results instead of announcements. We are happy to give credit to PM Carney for buying assets like planes, etc, but let's see some "nation-building projects." Maybe some jobs in Ontario would be helpful, instead of more layoffs. We'll point out the lack of a "Trump bump" in BC and Quebec, how trying to bribe Alberta may not have the desired effect, and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com BC Premier David Eby, now BC NDP Leader David Eby, has decided to call an election barely two years into his current mandate, and he's not exactly off to the best start. Going a ways east, Pierre Poilievre didn't start an Ontario by-election the best way either, and Mark Carney started the House of Commons with a big, beautiful bill. We wrap up with exciting CFL news, and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com What a time to be a political actor in Canada! Our Prime Minister is more enamoured with Europe than his own country, he can't seem to get anyone to invest in Canada, yet his opposition seems to view this to be the time to crumble into disarray (hello, Western Canada.) At least on this show, we'll always stand up for Canada!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com All slogans aside, Canada really needs to get its collective sxxx together. Pierre Poilievre visited New York City to talk to business media, and made the case for Canada well, then there's a BC problem that we wrap the show up with. While the Carney works to bring us closer to Europe, his government is working on which media we're allowed to trust. A Cabinet Retreat, a big investment summit, and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com It's sad that we have to ask that question, but this is where we're at. Our Prime Minister is more enamoured with Europe than Canada, and is more upset about American memes than about trade uncertainty with the United States (even though it helps his polling numbers.) Why are we paying triple for VIA Rail cars? Why do our politicians have to be our spokespeople to investors? Would Alberta really be better off as a 51st State of the US? And more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com Renaud stops in to share some insights on trade, tariffs, sovereign wealth funds, the Canada Investment Summit (or whatever Carney is calling it,) and an event that the MEI is partnering in this fall! Check that out at www.prescriptions-for-health-reform.com Enjoy the conversation!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com The more we hear about the deal that fell apart, the more it appears that it fell apart on purpose. We can take comfort knowing that The Chinese Communist Party approves of PM Carney's actions on this. Of course we have the receipts. Doug Ford hates Lake America, but loves his polling numbers, a meltdown in BC, the prairies are "un-Canadian," and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com It likely comes as no surprise that Canada and the US were unable to reach a trade deal, especially given that our "master negotiator" couldn't trouble himself to be in the Western Hemisphere in the late stages of talks. Lewis shares a theory on that to wrap up the show. We will discuss the deal that wasn't, why the feds want to punish Alberta (not about energy,) homeless rights on the east coast, and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com We'll start with an important update from Summerland, BC that you won't hear in the mainstream press. And, while this situation affects our country, there is a certain trade negotiation, and where is our leader? On vacation. Is another new political movement on the horizon? Some hope in the culture wars, and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com Canadian values, to be clear. Canadian values. We start the show a little differently, with a Summerland fire update from Lewis, who's right in the thick of it. Stay tuned for an update on trade talks with the US, hate crimes online, is there a culture war in Canada? And more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com We won't go so far as to say that conservatives in Canada are winning, but there are signs that they may have realized that it's time to get their ... stuff ... together. Michelle Rempel-Garner opines on a path forward, Danielle Smith brings common sense to equalization, is the Carney-Ford bromance over? More hits to the forestry industry, and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com We are joined by Bill from Ontario, who has spent over 30 years in the trucking industry, to discuss not only what's wrong with the business, but how to make it right. Enjoy the conversation!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com Where there's smoke, there's fire, and by fire we mean tariff threats. These, of course, became topics raised at the Council of the Federation meetings, where the reactions of various Premiers were quite different from others. Are Canadian values still Canadian? And more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com So, Mark Carney told us all that he was the one who could best stand up President Trump and secure the best deal for Canada RE: the United States. You might not like what we have to tell you on that front. Danielle Smith triggers the left in Alberta over breakfast, Ontario burns, and more!
Email us at cdncomsense@gmail.com While the Carney government plays fast and loose with the rules, it would appear that they aren't alone. Are we looking at yet one more new pipeline? We've got submarines; maybe not the best bid, and likely not till 2034, though. New rules for Senate appointments, has Pierre lost his way? And more!
