CONTROL Resonant is an excellent genre-shifting sequel. It moves the series from crazy flying third-person shooting into crazier, even more flying’ier third person melee combat. Dylan Faden takes over protagonist duties from his sister Jesse, and leads a story that far surpasses that of the first. Our Review !
The debut title from Korean developer, Studio BBB, MONOWAVE is perhaps one of the year’s most delightful indie surprises, with striking visuals, unique gameplay and excellent value for money. Our review :

My god, what a week! From epic betrayals, the return of childhood classics and an epic opening showcase for fans, there's plenty to talk about. We are going to get into it in The DayOne Show Episode 330! As always, before we get into things, we do take a moment to dive into the games we've been playing this week. The lovely Joe Cumbo has been playing The Blood of Dawnwalker and has rendered his verdict on the Xbox Series X version with the 'Day One' patch in play, so be sure to go check it out. Nick's been playing Avatar: Fighting Legends and not having a good time, but thoroughly enjoying what he's played of Crazy Taxi so far. Jon's been playing co-op puzzle platformer WheelMates , which isn't too bad for the price, but it's a shame more wasn't done to take advantage of WheelMates unique, twitchy RC-Car setup, because on that front, the developers have done a great job. Jesse's been playing lots of things he can't talk about, but did talk a little about NBA2K27 and his continued issues with Star Wars Zero Company on PC. Beyond the games, there's a ton of news to talk about. We started the week with a surprising leak from Steam that revealed the achievements for a ton of announced and unannounced games. Then, Nintendo made some dreams come true with a Zelda Direct, revealing gameplay for The Ocarina of Time , a Special 'Anniversary' Switch 2 console and accessories and even an ocarina you can buy. Nifty! Then we go Nintendo Direct part two, with a ton of 3rd party reveals and some surprises, including Metroid Ravenous and a new Kirby game ! We capped off this weekend with a ton of announcements from Blizzcon - a new Starcraft open-world shooter , Diablo V was announced and World of Warcraft: Forever was revealed. For everything from Blizzcon, check out our roundup here . Enjoy this episode? Let us know in the comments below!

The excellent toy-like arcade racing foundations of the Hot Wheels Unleashed series by Milestone are now being brought into four bright, acrobatic and exciting open world islands for players to explore. Is it any good? Let's find out with our Hot Wheels Infinite Rush Review !
Exodus is the Mass Effect-style Sci-fi RPG I have been waiting for. Wizards of the Coast flew us out to Austin, Texas, a few weeks ago to play a 90-ish-minute hands-on demo. Through microgravity, with ‘alien’ powers on his side, I controlled Jun Aslan in a mission on a space station full of Awoken frogs, and I loved it.Our Exodus hands-on Preview!
Speedrunners 2: King of Speed is something I’ve been looking foward to for a while. The original is one of my friendship group’s top couch co-op/LAN Party games, so the idea of a bigger, prettier sequel with more players and more ways to troll each other should have been an easy win. Unfortunately, while the core Speedrunners experience remains every bit as brilliant as the original, much of what has been built around it feels unnecessary. Or Speedrunners 2 Review !
If you’re an old grey-beard like me, you’ll probably remember flash games. One of the more popular ones was N from the team at Metanet Software, which led us to N+ in 2008 and then N++in 2015. I played them all a fair bit and now, the team at Metanet are back with a new instalment. I went hands-on at Gamescom, and I thought we could all take a nice trip down memory lane together. Our N+∞X2 hands-on preview .
We got roughly 20 minutes of playtime with Alien Deathstorm at Gamescom 2026 . Rebellion, most famous for its Sniper Elite franchise, has put its spin on an Aliens-inspired game, with a fun shooter that made a solid first impression.
We're back from Gamescom, and while we're sure Nick has assuredly missed us, we're not quite sure he's going to enjoy us talking about all the games he's yet to play. Still, it's nice to catch up, right? It's the DayOne Show Episode 329! As always, we start the show diving into what we've been playing. While Nick's been playing the usual suspects, he's also been checking out Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol.2 , which makes for a nice change. Reviews! When it comes to Jon, Jesse and Aarsal, well - in truth, we have far too many previews and reviews to reasonably feature in detail here, but as the crew are back from Gamescom, we sure do talk about a few of them! First up, the reviews from the last week or so - Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy , Onimusha: Way of the Sword , Orbitals , Blood Dungeon , Speedrunners 2: King of Speed , Crimson Moon and most recently Halloween: The Game . Phew! Previews! On the preview front, we've got plenty out already, and more on the way - but for now, you can tuck into these beauties - Gears of War: E-Day Campaign , Metro 2039 , Fable , Tides of Annihilation , State of Decay 3 , Crusader Kings 3: By God Alone & Silk and Silver , Alien Deathstorm , The Expanse: Osiris Reborn , N+∞X2 , Anno 117: Pax Romana - Dawn of the Delta and last but not least, Exodus ! Not bad, right? And the news! In news, we've chat about Asha Sharma's BBC interview and the Xbox Helix 'Family of devices' and have a little chat about just what that could mean, exactly. Team Green have also announced a limit to cloud streaming hours per month, which has generated a fair bit of discussion alongside their disc-to-digital program , which is now live for Xbox insiders. We also chat about the big Netflix GTA6 reveal , the recent teases for Starcraft with Blizzcon looming. Sony's recent State of Play Double bill and plenty more. Enjoy the episode? Let us know in the comments below!
