Most people believe they are the sole architects of their decisions. But in truth, many factors influence our choices. Whether it’s career-related or a new relationship, outside elements have a tendency to sway our thinking. In this episode, Jim breaks down a belief he calls the brainwashed script. He explains that most people follow pre-programmed prompts without even realizing it. Even when a decision feels spontaneous, he says it can be traced to early childhood moments. Using an early ‘90s children’s Tylenol commercial as an example, he explains that we are often persuaded to do something based on an idea planted in the subconscious mind. In these situations, analytical thinking goes out the window, and a decision is made solely based upon the seed planted. Jim also draws on his work as a former professional hypnotist. He notes that this tactic isn't just common in marketing. The Tylenol commercial is a prime example that shows how people react on autopilot, allowing the brain to invent a story afterward to justify their choice. He compares it to an invisible boundary that keeps the mind gated and limits what a person believes is possible. He also gets into the primary drivers of our decisions, sharing that most people rely on three main elements when choices arise, before explaining why restricting yourself and your thoughts may be the biggest lie of all. If you’ve wanted more in life but keep repeating the same patterns, this episode shows you where the invisible fence came from and how to start stepping past it. What You’ll Discover in This Episode (4:15) The liver and onions test: Jim uses a simple lunch scenario to show how people respond in a nanosecond with no conscious thought behind the choice. (7:15) Jim explains how parents, culture, and society record a psychological track that most people replay for decades without knowing it. (11:49) Jim shares research from the Max Planck Institute showing that the brain chose up to seven seconds before participants believed they were consciously choosing. (17:10) The invisible electric collar: Using his own dogs and property line, Jim describes how learned limitations act as invisible boundaries that keep people from going further in life. (20:22) Jim breaks down a short Tylenol commercial to show how marketers plant suggestions that bypass the critical, analytical mind. (23:57) The three drivers behind 99% of choices: Jim explains how fear, comfort, and repeated neural pathways make most decisions for us, and why the ego fights to keep that hidden. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway Every limitation you think you have was learned, and what was learned can be unlearned. The fence feels real only because no one ever told you it was invisible. Start noticing the moments when you react before you think, and ask who installed that choice. That simple question is where reclaiming your power begins. Let’s Connect: Instagram | Facebook | YouTube | LinkedIn LIKED THE EPISODE? Yes, you read the headline correctly. Fear is the cure for fear. Why? Because you’ll not go through fear until you go through your fear, hence, fear is the cure for itself. I could spend hours writing fancy copy explaining this episode but it’s as simple as this: Go through your fear or you’ll never go through your fear and when you go through your fear your higher essence and Spirit will be free to soar. You have probably heard before, “All the things you want are on the other side of your fear.” This is because mostly all the big things you want in life are coming from your desires which are many times coming from your spiritual essence. As long as you entertain your fear you’re going to hobble and hinder your spiritual growth. So many people who listen to my podcast would consider themselves spiritual but on the flip side of the coin, they have tremendous fears. Ask yourself, “How spiritual is it to get into fear, that which hampers my spirit?” In this episode of course I go deeper into this but it’s a short episode because when you really ponder the single phrase, Fear Is The Cure For Fear, and you come to know that, everything changes in life. Transformational Takeaway You’ll not transcend your fear until you go through your fear and it’s one of the most spiritual things that you can do. In this episode, Jim tackles the misconception that learning more is the key to transforming life. Yes, knowledge is powerful. But context is everything. Jim uses common vices, like smoking and dieting, to show that knowing something is wrong isn’t enough to make you change. He also explains why piling on more information only confuses you, and uses his experiences as an example. Like many people, Jim believed that knowing more leads to doing better. He read and researched to learn as much as he could, yet he was still broke and overworked. Becoming a walking encyclopedia led to nothing, and he realized that being, not knowing more, was the key. As the episode continues, Jim breaks down the idea of “decorating the cage" and explains why collecting information makes the human ego comfortable without ever freeing them from it. For his final thought, Jim shares how this understanding led to his next shift and outlines what listeners can expect as the podcast moves into its next chapter. For anyone who has learned plenty and changed very little, this episode explains why and sets the stage for what comes next. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (00:20) Jim asks why smokers, dieters, and doom scrollers keep repeating habits they already know are bad for them. (04:00) Jim revisits the familiar "know better, do better" idea and explains why he no longer believes it. (08:52) Jim describes“decorating the cage” and shows how endless reading and listening can make the cage of the ego more pleasant without opening the door. (13:12) Content versus context: Jim explains why adding information never changes the frame through which a person sees their life. (15:34) Using swimming and his own 2020 near-death experience, Jim draws the line between reading about something and living it. (19:15) Jim lays out the show's new direction and its upcoming name change to Brainwashed: Exit the Human Lie. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway Think about how much you learned in the past year. Now think about how much your life actually changed. If the gap between those two answers is wide, another book won't close it. Nobody learns to swim from a manual; they get in the water. So set the information aside for a moment and look at the frame you live from, the belief that you are only human. As Jim puts it, you were never only human. You were taught to be that. Once you see through that teaching, you can't unsee it, and that is where real change begins. This episode was inspired by a current student of mine. Essentially, he wrote me a note and was sharing how he’s feeling hopeless about the state of the world, the future of humanity, and the planet. I can definitely understand his fears; however, from my perspective, I’m not hopeless at all. Actually, I’m quite optimistic about the future. There are a couple of places mentally that I “work from” in life, and for this reason, the state of the world is not creating fear or reaction in me. With so much chaos in the world, millions if not more, are in fear about what the future holds. I am not one of those people. In this episode, I share the paradigm that I have worked from for years. It applies both to the state of the world and as well the relationships in my life, and even to passersby in life. I choose how I want to participate in the world, to some degree physically and to a huge degree, mentally. Perhaps when you ponder what I share in this episode, you too may find more peace and comfort in your life. Most people spend their lives playing defense against the world. Whether it’s health, wealth, or happiness, they’re constantly fighting to survive. That kind of battle isn’t pretty and only leads to exhaustion and hopelessness. In this episode of the Transform Your Life from the Inside Out podcast, Jim gets to the root of this behavior. He explores the spiritual concept of power and how cultural brainwashing keeps people tied to false ideas of trust, leading them to believe that they must make everything happen themselves. Drawing on his years of financial struggle and wisdom from his shaman, Jim explains that most problems stem from external circumstances and the sheer belief that they hold power over us. But what happens when we attempt to let go? As Jim notes, ending the battle isn’t easy, but continuing to fight only fuels the problem. Here, he explains why leaning into consciousness, not effort, can lead to better results. If you’re ready to stop fighting against life, this episode can be the road to reclaiming your spiritual power and peace of mind. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (04:21) Your job is not your source: Why the belief that income comes from clients, business, or a paycheck keeps people trapped in fear and lack. (07:21) Channel vs. source: How recognizing consciousness as the true source of supply ends panic when one door closes. (13:09) Fighting feeds the problem: What Mother Teresa's refusal to march against war reveals about resistance and lost power. (18:08) The power of non-resistance: How withdrawing fear and attention cuts off the energy sustaining a problem, like removing oxygen from a flame. (22:29) The brainwashed "doer": Why the personal ego can calculate and worry but can never create harmony or prosperity. (26:19) The lesson of the cut finger: A simple kitchen moment that proves infinite intelligence is already working through you without effort. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway When you cut your finger, you don't sit up all night, willing it to heal. You put on a bandage and forget about it, and by morning the healing has already begun. Life works the same way. Your problems don't need forcing to be fixed; they need less of your energy. Notice where you're gripping, gently pry your fingers loose, and let consciousness do what it has always done. Surrender isn't giving up. It's finally getting out of the way. Do you finish your days mentally and emotionally exhausted? Does life wear you out? Do you feel like you have nothing left to give? If so, you’re probably expending way too much energy in life and expanding it on things that do not matter. Let me ask you this: what if you turned on every single light and electrical appliance in your house and you left it on for a month; what would your bill be? It would be outrageous, right? Well, metaphorically, that’s what many people do with both their mental energy….they expend all their energy, akin to leaving every light in the house on, and they wear themselves out. And, how do they do this, easy…they “entangle” in the energy of others, and they make a great deal of what “does not pertain to them, pertain to them,” and it’s taxing. In this episode, I talk about being selective in what you make pertain to you, and I talk about choosing to conserve your energy, your peace of mind, and your mental sanity. Listen, apply, & enjoy! Transformational Takeaway What pertains to you is what you make pertain to you. In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim makes a bold statement about the self-help industry: It’s built to keep you coming back, not to set you free. While personal development should be the goal, Jim explains that sometimes other things take precedence. One thing in particular is boosting the ego. He explains that instead of helping you work through your issues, some programmes focus on short-lived joy. To illustrate this, Jim draws on Plato's allegory of the cave, in which people chained to the wall began to believe their shadows were real. He explains that constantly trying to fix yourself has a similar effect. However, in this case, the idea that you’re broken becomes the reality. To help listeners break free, he offers a simple mantra stating that true freedom comes from understanding that you’re not trapped and recognising the power of your own consciousness. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (00:36) The self-help trap — Jim explains why an industry built on feeling good rarely leads to deep, lasting healing. (05:49) Jim shares how a friend's response revealed that the industry thrives on repeat customers, and why his own measure of success is clients who never need to come back. (14:11) Jim uses Plato's allegory to show how most personal development simply rearranges chairs on the Titanic of the human ego. (16:20) The self-improvement paradox — Jim reveals how wanting to fix yourself telegraphs lack, prompting the universe to keep reflecting it back. (22:38) Jim explains that recognizing yourself as the awareness observing the human identity is where true power begins. (27:53) Jim invites listeners to stop fixing a story that was never theirs and simply learn to be. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway You are not your past, your trauma, your bank account, or even your name. Those are labels you learned, and every one of them keeps you searching for the next fix. The moment you stop trying to repair a story that isn't truly you, it loses its grip. There is nothing left to fix because nothing was ever broken. Today, pause and ask yourself what would change if nothing were wrong with you right now, and let that question open the door out of the cave. In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim examines the quest for freedom and what it means to embark on that journey. He opens the discussion with a familiar story about a bishop in the deli. It was at this moment when Jim first realized how deeply people can become attached to a role or narrative. It showed him how human experiences are often confused with cosmic truth, causing people to adopt roles instead of stepping into their autonomy. Jim explains that real freedom cannot exist inside the container of the 3D ego, adding that doing so only forces you to inherit all the 3D ego’s limitations. Instead, he suggests two simple steps to determine your attachments. The first requires you to identify your fears by naming your three greatest obstacles. The second is to determine what you’re fighting to defend. The exercise reveals how attached you can be to your human identity. Its purpose is to help listeners step into their authenticity as a spiritual being. Along the way, Jim recounts his studies with the being Kyron and shares the daily practice he uses to shift his mindset from being a body trying to fix its circumstances to seeing himself as divine consciousness. For anyone ready to move beyond fixing their life and into truly knowing who they are, this episode offers a clear and challenging place to begin. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (00:11) The bishop story — Jim recalls a moment in 2017 that revealed how deeply people identify with inherited roles. (04:31) The container concept — Drawing on material from the channeled being Kyron, Jim explains that every person lives boxed in by assumptions, fears, and routines. (10:43) Religion, control, and the allegory of the cave — Jim connects Plato's allegory of the cave to organized religion and dogma. (19:49) Two questions worth asking yourself — Jim leads listeners through a short exercise naming their biggest fears and what they fight to defend. (25:40) A daily practice for transcending the container — Jim shares the exact thought he holds each morning to shift from managing his life to witnessing it as divine consciousness. (28:15) A listener's transformation — Jim reads an email from a listener whose life shifted after applying these teachings, and reflects on how many people will recognize themselves in her story. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway You are not the container you live in, and you are not the story you were taught. Every fear you carry and everything you fight to defend is simply evidence of how attached you are to a role that was never your truth. Real freedom comes from stepping back from the role and remembering that you are the consciousness witnessing it. The moment you stop trying to fix the container and begin to understand yourself as a soul, the very limitations you believed were permanent will start to fall away. What I talk about in this episode I’ve mentioned before but I talk about it here with a metaphor that hits home for everyone. Honestly, many years ago I used to read tons of books, think positively and thought that I was a good manager of my thinking, but that was far from the truth – despite my belief that it was so. In this episode I talk about: [3:16] The metaphor for the mind and thought management [4:13] The correlation between thinking and outcomes in life [5:09] Why it’s important to be careful with your thoughts [7:08] Why just “thinking positive” is not the answer [9:54] How the universe shows no mercy upon our thoughts [20:11] And, why it’s essential that you become aware of your skill to manage your thoughts. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway You’re the “foreman” of your mind, and your life is a reflection of how good of a foreman you are. In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim challenges listeners to stop fighting their circumstances and instead question complacency. “Look at your life and pick something that you would like to change.” It’s a simple but heavy statement. Jim explains that it’s also the sole reason why we resist change. His argument hinges on the fact that most people’s thoughts and actions are misaligned, causing them to constantly “do more” to fix their problems. However, what it boils down to is a lack of awareness of consciousness. Life doesn’t have to look a certain way, and Jim uses the metaphor of two parallel train tracks to illustrate. One track represents all the work you have to do to reach your goal, while the other represents the person you have to be to do the work. The analysis reveals that being and doing are not the same thing. More importantly, it shows how our consciousness can quietly sabotage our efforts even when we're taking all the right actions. To drive the point home, Jim refers to the classic self-help book by James Allen and a personal story from his own mentor. He uses both to explain that there is power in learning to manage your mind over your behavior. Listen in to discover why your results depend less on what you do and more on who you're being while you do it. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (00:10) The opening question — Jim asks listeners to look at something they want to change. (04:10) Fighting our circumstances — Jim breaks down why fighting without understanding life's mechanisms and a lack of conscious awareness makes change difficult. (06:28) Be, do, have — Jim revisits this foundational framework, explaining why most people skip straight to doing without ever addressing the being. (08:24) The two train tracks — Jim introduces a metaphor of two parallel tracks, one for doing and one for being, that both lead to the same desired outcome. (13:41) When being sabotages doing — Jim explains how frustration, impatience, and resentment on the "being" track can quietly undo all the progress made on the "doing" track. (17:37) Mind is the master power — Jim references James Allen's As a Man Thinketh to make the case that consciousness, not activity, is what truly shapes results. (24:31) The mentor's wisdom — Jim shares a lesson from his mentor Barry: your doing is only ever as effective as the being doing the doing. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway Most of us have learned to be excellent doers while ignoring who we are being while we do it. But activity alone cannot outrun a consciousness that is impatient or convinced something is always wrong. The moment you stop collapsing “being” and “doing” into one track, you can start managing your mind and your emotions with the same intention you bring to your to-do list. Your outer results have always been a reflection of your inner state, not the other way around. So the next time you catch yourself pushing harder without progress, pause and ask who says it has to be this way, then check which track you're actually running on. I wonder if you’ve noticed how much of your peace you give up and give away? Seemingly not a big deal but what you’re really giving up is your peace-of-mind, which is something you’ve been chasing most of your life. Pretty much everything you want in life you want it because you think it’s going to bring you peace-of-mind. The best example is money. Most likely you don’t want it just to want it, you want it because it’s going to “give” you something: security, social status, freedom and such. When you quiet your mind you become the highest version of your BEing. A quiet mind is your unlimited potential expressing itself. Transformational Takeaway You can’t do anything well without peace-of-mind. Start Your Transformation Now In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim explores the limitations people experience, focusing on the belief that life must be constantly managed, monitored, and controlled to keep it from falling apart. He explains that control is rarely the answer, and that forcing it only brings the kind of exhaustion most people are trying to escape. Jim describes the idea of the "invisible contract,” and how it controls most entrepreneurs and professionals. He draws on his own experience, running a company with a full staff, to break down how constant control leads to catastrophic collapse. Instead, he offers listeners a different approach, dismantling the illusion piece by piece. He asks listeners what they actually control and reveals that the universe and every living thing in it has always existed without their permission. If pedaling the bike of life has left you worn out, this episode offers a way off the bike entirely. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (03:29) The invisible contract — Jim names the unconscious agreement most high achievers live by. It explains that everything will fall apart if they stop managing everything. (11:42) The hustle culture trap — Jim explains why the belief that success requires constant struggle is backwards and how it violates the “be, do, have” model. (12:44) The cause of exhaustion — Jim explains why the effort to control life is the root of the very exhaustion people are trying to escape. (16:19) What you actually control — Jim walks listeners through the realization that they control neither the economy, the weather, their bodily processes, nor even their own thoughts. (22:31) The failure of mind management — Jim reveals how trying to fix "bad weather" in life validates the illusion of things being broken, and why spirituality is just ego in disguise. (26:08) The unmanaged life experiment — Jim offers listeners a 24-hour assignment and urges them to adopt the phrase, "I am not the manager of this moment." Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway Exhaustion doesn't come from life being heavy. The real cause is the constant, low-grade effort to govern a life that was never yours to direct. Set down the role of middle manager for a day and see what happens. Use the day to observe your thoughts instead of reframing them. Observe the sensation instead of solving it, and let the universe do what it has always done. You are not the manager of this moment. Just be. How often do we find ourselves ensnared by the very things we cling to for comfort and security? This episode peels back the layers of the false illusions we often find comfort in - our careers, relationships, and the societal roles we play. It challenges us to question the very fabric of our existence and what it means to live a life where we aren't imprisoned by external validations. I share stories from my own life, including lessons learned from facing heart failure and a stroke, to highlight the freedom that comes when we detach from the material and societal measures of success. These experiences have taught me that true liberation is found not in the accumulation of achievements, but in understanding and embracing the essence of our soul's journey. Join me as we explore how to navigate the illusions of life that bind us, aiming for a state of BEing that transcends the material and the mundane. We'll examine the traps of defining ourselves by our possessions, our jobs, and even our relationships, and how these attachments can lead to a life constrained by the very things we thought would free us. Listen, apply, enjoy. Transformational Takeaway Learn how to achieve true freedom through detachment from societal success measures. Start Your Transformation Now In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim Fortin unpacks what he calls “the life paradox,” the trap so many people fall into when they try to fix problems in their lives, such as physical conditions, lack of money, or a broken relationship. Jim uses his own 2020 health crisis, a near-fatal heart failure and stroke, as an example. With the wisdom gained from his shaman Don Javier and renowned author Anita Moorjani, he explains how personal struggle can reinforce the very brokenness you’re trying to escape. He also breaks down the frequency of perpetuating deficiency. Jim notes that desperately trying to fix the body, finances, or a relationship actually keeps people stuck in a loop. His solution for listeners is a practical three-step shift and simple technique he calls the three-minute circuit breaker. When paired, he says they will help you step out of that identity and into genuine healing. This episode is a must-listen for anyone caught in the cycle of striving, whether it's around health, money, or love, and ready to understand why letting go is often the real path forward. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (00:15) Jim introduces the life and health paradox, the idea that trying to fix the body only reinforces the belief that it's broken. (02:47) The game-changing quote from Jim's friend AJ explaining the principle that to need nothing is to have everything. (07:43) Why, as a culture, we are obsessed with fixing everything (08:57) Why desperately trying to heal, attract money, or fix a relationship actually projects lack into consciousness and keeps people stuck. (21:31) Anita Moorjani's insight that true healing means stepping completely outside the identity of the one who needs to be healed. (27:18) Jim's three-step shift: separating sensation from story, releasing the need to check for progress, and treating discomfort as background noise. (33:42) Jim’s three-minute circuit breaker: a simple practice for interrupting the fear loop and resting in stillness Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway Healing rarely comes from fighting harder. It comes from stepping out of the identity of being broken. After Jim's stroke, he didn't force anything. Instead, he trusted the process and sat in silence. His story is a perfect example of how peace often arrives when we stop chasing it. We all experience moments of fear. But forcing change isn't always the answer. As Jim notes, a simple pause and reset can do wonders. You may find that what you were struggling to fix simply needs room to heal itself. Have you ever noticed that when you cut your finger, you probably put a band-aid on it, and then you don’t think twice about it? Have you noticed that you don’t focus on healing your finger? You’re not doing self hypnosis healing, acupuncture, yoga, etc. to heal your finger. Even if it’s a bad cut that does not require stitches, you simply wrap it up, go about your tasks and forget about it. The whole point of this episode is shockingly simple and powerful, and honestly, it’s the key to all manifestation. Yes, health, a cut finger, overall wellness, money, relationships…everything. The reason you don’t focus or worry about your finger healing is because, are you ready? It’s because you already know it’s going to heal. And that is the key…the concept of ALREADY. I stumbled onto this realization by accidental observation in 2020. I had a stroke and heart failure in 2020 and today I am completely healthy and well. In this episode I talk about how a few things. I talk about where we keep our attention, what we create when we work from “need” and the power of already knowing that we can create whatever we want in life. That is a tremendous power we all have, no matter what the circumstances of your life are at the moment. When we work from needing and creating and in particular, when we place high value on what we want, even great health, we often create resistance to getting it. Why do we create resistance? Because the bigger it is the harder it seems and that is challenging for a lot of people. Transformational Takeaway How would you think, how would you feel, what would you do if you ALREADY had _____? Start Your Transformation Now In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim explores what it means to live in what he calls "a universe of no mercy," a concept he first heard years ago from a mentor. He explains that the universe doesn't test people, it reflects them, mirroring back whatever is held in consciousness. Using a real conversation with a longtime friend whose health is declining, Jim illustrates how identifying with a circumstance, whether it's poor health, financial lack, or a struggling relationship, is what causes people to keep experiencing it. Jim breaks down why the instinct to "fix" anything, be it the body, the bank account, or a relationship, actually reinforces the belief that something is broken, creating a paradox where trying harder only digs the hole deeper. He introduces the alternative: retreating into soul consciousness and letting go of the fight altogether, using the simple example of how a cut finger heals without effort once it's left alone. Listeners are invited to notice where they've been fighting their circumstances and to consider what might shift by no longer trying to fix them. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (00:00) A universe of no mercy — Jim introduces the idea that the universe isn’t a brutal space that tests us. Instead, it reflects the frequency of our consciousness back to us. (03:30) The identity trap — Jim shares a real conversation with a longtime friend whose text, "my body is breaking down," reveals how circumstances often become your identity. Jim explains how attempting to fix perceived circumstances keeps you in a loop. (12:00) The paradox of fixing — Jim explains why trying to fix any area of life secretly projects brokenness into the universe, using the metaphor of bailing water instead of patching the hole in the boat. (14:00) The manifestation trap — Jim unpacks why even conscious manifestation efforts can backfire when the personal development industry is broken. (19:00) Getting outside the box — Jim describes the problem with manifestation and why true change requires stepping outside the brainwashing of the human ego identity rather than fighting from within it. (22:00) The way out — Jim closes with the idea that to need nothing is to have everything, and shares how healing happens when we stop trying to heal. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway The body, the bank account, and the relationship are not problems to be solved; they are containers reflecting the consciousness held within them. The moment something is declared broken, that very declaration becomes a signal sent into the universe, and the universe answers in kind. True change doesn't come from fighting harder or fixing faster. It comes from stepping back, releasing the identity of lack, and allowing the deeper wholeness that's already present to do what it naturally does. Sometimes the most powerful move isn't to fix anything at all, but to let go and let it heal itself. Mentioned Resources:Dying to Be Me by Anita Moorjani. In this episode, we explore the fascinating difference between the mind and the brain. We challenge the common belief that our mind is limited to cognitive functions and decision-making. Instead, I introduce the idea that our mind extends beyond our brain, connecting us to a universal consciousness. We discuss how the brain acts as a translator, turning the vast potential of our mind into our everyday experiences. This episode encourages you to rethink where your thoughts come from and the true power behind your ability to heal and create. Sharing personal stories, including a life-changing experience after a stroke, I show how near-death experiences can reveal the mind's capacity to operate independently from our physical bodies, highlighting its connection to a greater, divine mind. This episode invites you to reconsider how you manifest, heal, and exist. Transformational Takeaway Understand and align with the divine mind and unlock endless possibilities for creativity, healing, and change... Start Your Transformation Now In this episode of The Jim Fortin Podcast, Jim makes the bold claim that everyone has been "spiritually mugged" before the age of seven. He explains how cultural and systematic brainwashing strip away divine authority in exchange for a corrupted "data package". He adds that this inherited package, made up of inherited fears, beliefs, and limitations, quietly defines who people think they are and what they believe they're allowed to have, keeping most people trapped in a human identity they never actually chose. Using the classic story of fleas conditioned to stop jumping after repeatedly hitting a jar's lid, Jim illustrates how early conditioning can become invisible over time, and why even the personal development industry, his own included, can unintentionally reinforce the belief that something is broken and needs fixing. Instead, he offers a different path: stepping back from the human "character" into the role of observer, and letting infinite intelligence handle what the ego insists on controlling. Listeners are invited to recognize their own data package and begin exiting the human lie that has kept them small. What You'll Discover in This Episode: (00:01) Spiritual mugging — Jim introduces the idea that everyone's consciousness was ambushed in childhood, leaving them trapped in an identity they didn't choose. (03:45) The data package and the flea jar — Jim explains how inherited beliefs work like a corrupted file, using the famous flea experiment to show how conditioning becomes self-perpetuating. (10:58) Why personal development can backfire — Jim reveals how mindset hacks and affirmations can unintentionally confirm the belief that something is wrong with you. (13:14) Anita Moorjani's wisdom — Jim shares the insight that the easiest way to heal is to need no healing at all, and how the harder we work to fix something, the more we reinforce its presence. (19:36) Becoming the observer — Jim teaches how to step outside the human identity and its dramas rather than trying to repair a character that was never truly you. (23:57) Letting infinite intelligence run the show — Using the simple example of a healing cut, Jim shows why surrendering control, rather than forcing outcomes, is the way real transformation happens. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway Every fear, limitation, and struggle carried into adulthood was handed down long before there was any ability to question it, a corrupted data package mistaken for identity. The way out isn't to work harder at fixing what feels broken. Real transformation begins the moment the human character relaxes, allowing the observer to step forward, and trusting infinite intelligence to do what the ego never could. The cut heals itself once left alone; so does everything else. So, let me ask you…do you get upset, angry, pouty, and bent out of shape when you feel like people are ignoring you or not paying attention to you? Be honest! Well, if you’re like most of humanity you answer yes, you do get bent out of shape when you feel like others are not listening to you and that is what this episode is about. Many years ago my mentor, a shaman, someone who I greatly admire, and truth be told, I wanted him to pay attention to me – he ignored me for a year. Yes, for a whole year he would “kindly” dismiss me and ignore me. He was not mean or cruel or even disrespectful, he just didn’t give me attention in the way that I wanted it. That was one of the most valuable years of my life because that experience taught me to let go of whether or not others paid attention to me. We get so attached to people paying attention to us and candidly, emotionally, many adults are not any better than children when we’re trying to get some attention from others. As I talk about in the episode, we definitely want attention from our partner but we want healthy attention, not attention that fills in the holes in our lack of self-esteem and self-worth. The big payoff here is that when you let go of the “need for attention” as I discuss it in this episode we then let go of attachment and when we do that we start creating more freedom and liberation in our life!
