In the final message of our Get Wise, Live Wise series, Eli explores how God transforms both what grows within our hearts and the love that flows out to others. Drawing from Proverbs 4:23 and the example of Jesus, he invites us to guard our hearts and put love into practice through patience, kindness and forgiveness. Whatever has shaped your understanding of love, Jesus offers hope, healing and a fresh start.
Age brings the opportunity for wisdom, but not the guarantee of it. Proverbs invites us to walk with the wise, learning from lives we haven’t lived and sharing what God is still teaching us. Wisdom is a gift to be received and given, as every generation helps another follow Jesus. Whether you have followed Him for a few months or many years, be encouraged to keep learning, make time for others and share what you have come to know of His faithfulness. Generosity is about far more than what we do with our money. It reveals what money is doing in us. In this message from the Get Wise, Live Wise series, we explore how giving trains our hearts to trust God. Discover what it means to give proportionally, progressively, and purposefully, treating money as a resource rather than a refuge and partnering with what God is doing through his church. Following Jesus means more than trusting Him as Saviour, it means surrendering to Him as Lord. When Jesus owns and operates our lives, everything entrusted to us, our money, gifts, time and opportunities, becomes something to steward for Him. In a season when God is moving, now is not the time to shrink back, but to live generously with what He has given us. Be encouraged to surrender every part of your life to Jesus and faithfully serve His purposes in your generation. If you need prayer, we're here for you. When work gets hard, we can easily become apathetic or addicted, either withdrawing our souls from work or giving our souls to work. But work is too important to avoid and not important enough to worship. Jesus offers another way. When our lives are surrendered to Him, our work can become worship, expressed through Good Work, done in Godly Ways and as a Gospel Witness. Discover how following Jesus can shape whatever God has entrusted to your hands. If you need prayer, we're here for you. Our words can change the atmosphere, wound or heal, and shape our relationships. Proverbs reveals the power held by the tongue, while Jesus shows us that our words flow from whatever fills our hearts. Wise speech is not simply about trying harder to say the right thing, but allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us from the inside out. Be encouraged to let Jesus shape your heart so your words increasingly bring truth, grace and life. If you need prayer, we're here for you. Proverbs tells us that those who walk with the wise become wise, while Philippians 2 points us to the humility and care of Jesus. The friends we choose will shape our future, and wise friendship is trustworthy, joyful, centred on Christ and willing to do the work of rupture and repair. Choose your companions wisely, and seek to become that kind of friend to others. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What do we do when we find ourselves in darkness, especially when our own choices have led us there? In Psalm 107, people trapped in utter darkness cry out to the Lord, and He breaks their chains. Shame tells us to hide, pride says we can fix ourselves, and blame refuses to take ownership. Jesus offers another way. Whatever has brought you into the darkness, cry out to Him and receive the grace, forgiveness and redemption that can lead you into His glorious light. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What story is your life writing for those who come behind you? In Deuteronomy 6, Moses calls God’s people to remember His faithfulness and pass their faith on through the ordinary moments of life. This Father’s Day, discover how Jesus can help you to refuse what should not continue, redeem what has been broken, and give you courage to release blessing into the next generation. Our children don’t need perfect dads; they need to see dads who keep allowing Jesus to change them. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What do we do when the waves of life keep rising and our courage begins to melt away? Psalm 107 tells of sailors overwhelmed by a storm who cried out to God and found His unfailing love. Rather than pushing through in our own strength or running from what we fear, Jesus invites us to bring it all to Him. Discover the peace that guards our hearts in the storm, and the courage to tell the story of His faithfulness. If you need prayer, we're here for you. This Red Bag Sunday, we’re reminded that perseverance means trusting God and taking the next faithful step. Through Israel’s long road in the wilderness and Jesus’ faithfulness when faced with temptation, we see that God does not always show us the whole journey. He gives us what we need for today. When the road feels long, and shortcuts look tempting, we can fix our eyes on Jesus, let Him lead and trust Him with what comes next. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What if your hurting story isn’t finished? In Psalm 107 and Jeremiah 33, God’s faithful love meets people in pain, reviving what is dying, cleansing what is guilty and giving voice to what has gone silent. Through Jesus, death no longer decides where our stories end. Whether healing comes suddenly or unfolds one day at a time, we can cry, “Lord, help,” and trust the King who is alive, present, and still writing stories of redemption. What happens when comparison pulls our eyes away from Jesus? In John 21, Peter becomes distracted by the path set before someone else, but Jesus brings him back to one simple call: “Follow me.” We don’t need to have everything figured out or imitate another person’s story. Jesus meets us with grace and invites us to keep in step with Him. Turn your eyes back to Jesus and discover the life He has for you as you follow. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What if your greatest failure doesn’t have to be final? In John 21, Jesus meets Peter in his shame and offers him the second chance he never deserved. With grace greater than our sin, Jesus restores broken relationships, refines our character and renews our calling. Whatever mistakes you carry, He is not standing on the shore to condemn you. Come out of hiding, bring your failures to Him and keep following Jesus into the future He has for you. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What if doubt isn't something to fear, but the precursor to belief? In John 20:24–29, Thomas won't believe the others until he sees Jesus' wounds for himself. This message traces his journey from isolation to encounter to confession, "My Lord and my God." Along the way we see that Thomas' courage wasn't in having his questions answered, but in coming back into the room. Jesus meets each of us personally with exactly what we need, not simply what we want to hear. Whatever you're wrestling with this week, He wants to meet you there too. What if the reason we don't feel hungry for God is that we've been grazing on lesser things all day? In John 17:20-26, Jesus prays that His people would share in the same unity He has always had with the Father. This message traces that prayer through three circles: unity in God, being wanted by Him, and unity overflowing into how we treat each other. Before we ever wanted God again, He wanted us. The invitation this morning is to return to the table and let that love reshape how we see one another. If you need prayer, we're here for you. Jesus tells His disciples something that sounds backwards: it's actually better that He goes away. In John 15:26–16:15, that's the strange promise He makes, because only then will the Advocate come. This message unpacks how the Spirit proves the world wrong about sin, righteousness and judgement, pointing us back to Jesus as the way to true life. As His mission is handed to us, we are invited to expect struggle, expect victory and expect more. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What if the presence we're searching for isn't something we have to chase down, but a person who's already promised to stay? In John 14, Jesus tells His disciples they will never be alone, for He will send the Holy Spirit to be with them. This message explores who the Holy Spirit is: our counsellor who guides us, our convictor who confronts us with truth, and our comforter who brings peace in His presence. We're invited to stop, sit, and simply say, come, Holy Spirit. If you need prayer, we're here for you. Reach out at www.gatewaybaptist.com.au/prayerNew to faith or returning to Jesus today? In John 13, Jesus sits down to His last meal with the disciples, fully aware that all things had been put under His power. And with that power, He picks up a towel and washes their feet. This message looks at the power each of us carries, whether through position, wealth, education or influence, and asks what we're actually doing with it. Jesus shows us that serving isn't something we do to get something back. It's what love does. He is still calling His people to pick up the towel. If you need prayer, we're here for you. What if the real problem isn't that you don't want to go beyond yourself, but that you've been going so hard for so long you feel like you have nothing left to bring? In John 15, on the night before the cross, Jesus calls Himself the true vine and tells His disciples to remain in Him before anything else. The vine, the fruit and the village show us that lasting fruit only grows from staying connected to Jesus. Apart from Him we can do nothing. If you need prayer, we're here for you.
