What if you didn't wait until your body was struggling before you gave it a reset? In our modern world, we often think of a cleanse or reset as something we need to do after we've overindulged, eaten too much sugar, gained weight, or simply "fallen off the wagon." But Ayurveda takes a different, more preventative approach. Because we are part of nature, the changing seasons affect us too, influencing our digestion, energy, routines, appetite, sleep and overall balance. In this episode, Colette explores why the transition between seasons is such an important time to pause, listen to the body, simplify and support ourselves through change. An Ayurvedic seasonal reset is about much more than a cleanse or detox. Through the Ayurvedic principle of ritucharya, adapting our lifestyle according to the seasons, we can become more aware of how our bodies respond to environmental changes and make adjustments before imbalance becomes more established. Colette explores the relationship between the seasons and the doshas, why supporting agni (digestive fire) is central to an Ayurvedic reset, and why cleansing should include preparation, simplicity, digestion, elimination and, importantly, rejuvenation. You'll also discover how a seasonal reset can become a powerful practice of preventative health rather than something we only turn to when something goes wrong. In this episode, you'll discover: Why Ayurveda takes a preventative approach to health and wellbeing How seasonal changes can influence our bodies, digestion, energy and daily routines The Ayurvedic concept of ritucharya and adapting our lifestyle with the seasons How the doshas can accumulate and become aggravated during seasonal transitions Why subtle changes in digestion can be signals that your body is adapting to a new season Why simplifying food, routines and stimulation can support the body during seasonal change What an Ayurvedic digestive reset involves beyond simply "detoxing" Why supporting digestion and elimination is an important part of a seasonal reset Why the process doesn't end when the cleanse ends The importance of rejuvenation and rebuilding after cleansing Why you don't need to wait until something is wrong before supporting your health How to make a seasonal reset personal to your constitution, lifestyle and individual needs Join the Autumn Digestive Reset Cleanse If you're ready to support your body through this seasonal transition, my Discounted Group Digestive Reset Cleanse begins October 9th . Have you ever noticed that when you're not feeling your best, your instinct is to do more? Another supplement, another diet, another wellness routine or maybe another expert to follow. But what if your body doesn't need more from you right now? What if it needs less? In this episode, Colette explores the Ayurvedic wisdom of simplicity and why creating space can sometimes be more supportive than continually adding more. Ayurveda reminds us that the body is constantly processing; not only food, but also information, experiences, emotions, stimulation and the demands of everyday life. When there is too much coming in and not enough capacity to process it, we can begin to feel overwhelmed, disconnected and depleted. Creating space can give the body an opportunity to digest, process and eliminate what it no longer needs, while also creating room for intuition, clarity and creativity to emerge. In this episode, you'll discover: Why our instinct to add more isn't always the answer when something isn't working The Ayurvedic understanding of Agni and why digestive capacity matters How we can become overwhelmed by the constant input of modern life Why simplicity can reduce the energy required to navigate our daily lives The difference between restriction and simplification How Ayurveda understands Ama as residue or accumulation from what has not been properly digested or processed Why creating space can support digestion, processing and elimination How mental and emotional "clutter" can make it harder to hear our intuition Why creativity often needs space rather than more stimulation How a seasonal reset can help us step back from unnecessary demands Why your body doesn't always need another protocol, supplement, diet or wellness routine Three simple questions to ask before adding something new to your health routine Join the Autumn Digestive Reset Cleanse If you're ready to support your body through this seasonal transition, my Discounted Group Digestive Reset Cleanse begins October 9th . You eat well, exercise regularly, meditate, manage your stress and genuinely try to take care of yourself, so why don't you feel better? Sometimes, the answer isn't that you need to try harder or add another healthy habit. Through the Ayurvedic lens, there may be another question worth asking: Does your body currently have the capacity to digest, process and assimilate everything you're giving it? In this episode, Colette explores why healthy habits can sometimes stop feeling helpful and how factors such as stress, sensory input, lifestyle, seasonal changes, accumulation and digestive capacity can influence how we experience our health and wellbeing. You'll learn more about the Ayurvedic concepts of Agni and Ama, why digestion involves more than just the food we eat, and why sometimes creating space, simplifying our routines and reducing unnecessary inputs can be more supportive than continually adding more. In this episode, we explore: Why doing "all the right things" doesn't always mean you'll feel your best The Ayurvedic concept of Agni and our capacity to digest, metabolise and process What Ama means within the Ayurvedic understanding of incomplete digestion and metabolism How accumulation can occur when we're continually taking in more than we have the capacity to process Why stress and nervous system load can change the way we experience digestion Why how you eat can be just as important as what you eat How your digestive capacity can change with your stress, sleep, activity, age, lifestyle and the seasons Why sometimes the body needs less stimulation, less input and more space How simplifying your routine can support digestion, elimination and restoration Join the Autumn Digestive Reset Cleanse If you're ready to support your body through this seasonal transition, my Discounted Group Digestive Reset Cleanse begins October 9th . Have you ever found yourself saying, " I'm fine ," even though you know you're exhausted? Maybe you've been living with bloating, poor sleep, low energy, headaches or digestive discomfort for so long that it has simply become your normal. You know something feels different, but life is busy, there are people depending on you, and there's always something else that seems more important. In Episode 458, we explored how Ayurveda views symptoms as messages from the body rather than problems to simply suppress. In this episode, we take the conversation a step further and explore why we so often ignore those messages in the first place . We've become fluent in the language of productivity, achievement and pushing through, but many of us have lost our fluency in the language of the body. We learn to override tiredness, rush through meals, ignore digestive discomfort and tell ourselves that poor sleep is "just stress" or that feeling exhausted is simply part of getting older. Colette shares some of the patterns she has observed through her work with clients, including how easily we can adapt to feeling less well and gradually lower our expectations of what it means to feel healthy and balanced. In this episode, we'll explore: Why we become accustomed to ignoring the body's early signals The psychology behind saying "I'm fine" when we're actually exhausted How modern life encourages us to push through and prioritise productivity Why symptoms can gradually become so normal that we stop questioning them The connection between youthful vitality and our ability to compensate for imbalance Why some of the habits we tolerated when we were younger may affect us differently as we age How Ayurveda encourages curiosity rather than judgement Why awareness is the first step towards meaningful change How to become more fluent in the language of your own body A simple daily question you can use to begin listening more closely Join the Autumn Digestive Reset Cleanse If you're ready to support your body through this seasonal transition, my Discounted Group Digestive Reset Cleanse begins October 9th . Have you ever wished a symptom would simply disappear? Whether it's bloating, fatigue, headaches, restless sleep or digestive discomfort, our first instinct is often to silence the discomfort and get on with our busy lives. But what if those symptoms aren't the problem? What if they're messages? Colette explores one of Ayurveda's most profound teachings: that symptoms are not random inconveniences to suppress but meaningful signals that the body is communicating an imbalance. Rather than fighting our symptoms, Ayurveda invites us to become curious and ask, "What is my body trying to communicate?" You'll discover how Ayurveda helps us understand the body's language of imbalance, why we often ignore its early warning signs, and how seasonal changes can influence our health. Colette also explores why fatigue, bloating and even pain may be invitations to slow down, pay attention and make small adjustments before imbalances become more significant. Whether you're completely new to Ayurveda or have been practicing for years, this episode offers a compassionate reminder that your body isn't working against you, it's working for you. By learning to listen with curiosity rather than fear, you can begin developing a deeper relationship with your body and support your wellbeing from the inside out. In this episode, you'll learn: Why Ayurveda views symptoms as communication rather than problems to eliminate. How to recognize the body's early whispers before they become louder signals. Why fatigue, bloating and pain aren't necessarily the problem, they're valuable information. How seasonal changes can influence Pitta, Kapha and Vata, and what that may look like in your own body. Why modern life encourages us to ignore our body's wisdom. The importance of responding with curiosity instead of criticism. The two fundamental questions Ayurveda asks when understanding imbalance. Simple ways to begin listening to your body's innate intelligence. Have you ever found yourself ignoring your body's signals, overriding your intuition, or constantly looking outside yourself for the "right" answer? In our modern world, we're surrounded by advice on what to eat, how to exercise, and the perfect wellness routine to follow. While information can be incredibly valuable, it can also disconnect us from the most important source of wisdom we have, ourselves. In this episode, Colette explores why self-trust lies at the heart of healing and how Ayurveda gently guides us back to our own inner wisdom. Rather than encouraging dependence on practitioners or protocols, Ayurveda teaches us to become students of ourselves through observation, awareness, and consistent daily practices. Whether you're new to Ayurveda or have been practicing for years, this episode is a gentle reminder that your inner wisdom hasn't disappeared, it may simply need your attention. In this episode, you'll discover: Why self-trust is one of the foundations of healing How modern life encourages us to override our body's natural signals The hidden cost of constantly seeking external answers Why Ayurveda is a personalized system of health rather than a one-size-fits-all approach How observation and self-awareness help strengthen intuition Why symptoms can be viewed as valuable messages from the body The importance of dinacharya (daily routine) in rebuilding trust with yourself Why consistency matters far more than perfection A simple daily practice to help you reconnect with your body's wisdom The Elements of Ayurveda Podcast Community was created for those who wish to go deeper into Ayurveda, together. Do you ever feel too exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself to even think about doing the things that you know would support your wellbeing? In this episode, Colette discusses the hidden energy leaks that quietly drain our vitality every day. These aren't always the obvious things like missing a night's sleep or skipping a meal. They're the subtle habits, thought patterns, and daily demands that slowly drain your vitality without you even noticing. They often go unnoticed because they've become part of our normal way of living. Through the Ayurvedic lens of Prana, the life force energy that animates the body and mind, Colette explores how these hidden energy leaks can leave us feeling scattered, depleted, and disconnected from our inner wisdom. In this episode, you'll discover: What prana is and why protecting it is essential for wellbeing How people pleasing and self-abandonment drain your energy Why doom scrolling and digital overload fragment the mind The energetic impact of physical and mental clutter How decision fatigue contributes to exhaustion Why unresolved emotions consume your energy The importance of routine and rhythm in Ayurveda Why consistency often creates more transformation than perfection A simple question to help identify where your energy may be leaking Rather than focusing on what you need to add to your life, this episode invites you to consider what may need to be released. Because sometimes healing doesn't come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from stopping the things that are quietly draining your vitality. Do you find it easy to follow your Ayurvedic routines when life is calm, only to watch them disappear when things get busy? Perhaps you're travelling, caring for family, juggling work responsibilities, navigating a major life transition, or simply trying to keep up with the demands of everyday life. Suddenly, the morning routine feels impossible, meals become irregular, and self-care is pushed to the bottom of the list. In this episode, Colette explores one of the biggest misconceptions about Ayurveda: the belief that we need to practice it perfectly for it to be effective. She shares why Ayurveda was designed for real life, not ideal circumstances and how small, consistent practices can support balance even during life's busiest seasons. This episode is a gentle reminder that Ayurveda isn't reserved for calm, quiet days. In fact, it's often the busy, messy, imperfect days when we need its wisdom most. In this episode, you'll learn: Why life naturally moves through seasons that require different levels of structure and flexibility The myth of the "perfect" Ayurvedic routine How awareness, not perfection, is the true goal of Ayurvedic living Why small daily practices can have a profound impact on wellbeing How to identify your Ayurvedic non-negotiables during busy periods The power of consistency and the "minimum effective dose" approach to self-care Why we often abandon the very practices that support us most Practical Ayurvedic wisdom for navigating the intensity of summer and excess Pitta energy The importance of returning to your practices rather than starting over The Elements of Ayurveda Podcast Community was created for those who wish to go deeper into Ayurveda, together. If you've been studying Ayurveda for a while, chances are you already know a lot. Yet knowing what supports your wellbeing and consistently living it are often two very different things. In this episode, Colette explores the gap between knowing and living Ayurveda. She discusses why information alone doesn't create transformation, how the nervous system influences our ability to change, why we often resist the very habits that would support us, and how self-compassion and consistency can help us bridge the gap between understanding Ayurveda and truly embodying it in everyday life. In This Episode, You'll Learn: Why information alone doesn't create lasting transformation The difference between learning Ayurveda and living Ayurveda Why the nervous system prioritizes familiarity over what's healthiest How seemingly unhelpful habits may actually be meeting deeper emotional needs Why lack of follow-through is often not a willpower problem How learning can sometimes become a form of avoidance The difference between self-discipline and self-compassion How the 80/20 approach can make Ayurveda more realistic and sustainable Why transformation is often the result of consistent, simple choices over time The Elements of Ayurveda Podcast Community was created for those who wish to go deeper into Ayurveda, together. The word authenticity can sometimes feel overused, misunderstood, or even a little cliché. Yet beneath the buzzword lies a profound question: Who are you underneath all the layers of conditioning, expectations, habits, and beliefs you've accumulated throughout your life? In this episode, Colette explores how Ayurveda offers a unique framework for uncovering your authentic self. Rather than becoming someone new, Ayurveda encourages us to peel back the layers that obscure our true nature and reconnect with who we've always been. She discusses the importance of understanding your unique constitution (Prakriti), restoring balance before seeking clarity, and cultivating awareness through sustainable daily practices that support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. In this episode, you'll learn: Why the concept of authenticity is often misunderstood How Ayurveda views authenticity as a process of remembering rather than becoming The role of Prakriti (your unique constitution) in living an aligned life Why comparing yourself to others can create unnecessary suffering How societal conditioning can pull you away from your true nature The connection between healing, balance, and self-awareness Why symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, pain, digestive issues, and brain fog can make self-discovery more difficult How restoring balance creates the foundation for clarity and resilience Why awareness is one of Ayurveda's most powerful tools for transformation The importance of becoming a student of your own experience How simple daily Ayurvedic practices create freedom rather than restriction Why Ayurveda is a lifestyle rather than another item on your to-do list The Elements of Ayurveda Podcast Community was created for those who wish to go deeper into Ayurveda, together. Have you ever wondered if your skin is trying to tell you something? In this episode, Colette continues the conversation on Ayurvedic skin health following her interview with Vaidya Kamya Pillai on the gut-skin connection in episode 447. While many of us are taught to focus on skincare products to address dryness, breakouts, redness, or sensitivity, Ayurveda encourages us to look beneath the surface and explore what these symptoms may be communicating about our overall health. Colette explores how imbalances in the doshas of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha can manifest in the skin and how understanding the underlying causes can help us better support our skin and our wellbeing. She discusses the relationship between skin health and digestion, the nervous system, stress, life stages, seasonal influences, and the Ayurvedic principle that symptoms are often messages rather than problems to eliminate. In this episode, you'll learn: Why Ayurveda views the skin as a reflection of internal health How Vata imbalance may contribute to dryness, sensitivity, and premature aging How Pitta imbalance can manifest as inflammation, redness, acne, and skin reactivity How Kapha imbalance may lead to congestion, oiliness, puffiness, and sluggish skin How seasonal changes influence the skin Why skin concerns often change throughout different stages of life The Ayurvedic principle of using opposite qualities to restore balance How to begin listening to the messages your skin may be sending Whether you're experiencing acne, rosacea, dryness, sensitivity, inflammation, congestion, or simply want to better understand your skin through the lens of Ayurveda, this episode offers practical insights and a deeper perspective on cultivating health and radiance from within. * The Elements of Ayurveda Podcast Community was created for those who wish to go deeper into Ayurveda, together. Have you been feeling less drawn to hustle culture, constant productivity and striving, and more drawn to simplicity, connection and a slower rhythm of life? In this episode, Colette explores the concept of the feminine fire through an Ayurvedic lens. Inspired by reflections on the balance between feminine and masculine energies within us all, she examines how modern life, excess rajas and nervous system overstimulation can disconnect us from our intuition, creativity and natural rhythms. Are you living by your body's wisdom or by your data? In today's wellness culture, we're encouraged to track, measure, monitor, and optimize almost every aspect of our lives. Sleep scores, step counts, fasting windows, heart rate variability, recovery metrics, calorie burn, protein intake, the list seems endless. While technology can offer valuable insights, many people are finding themselves increasingly disconnected from the very thing that matters most, their relationship with their own body. In this episode, Colette explores the growing culture of self-optimization through the lens of Ayurveda and nervous system health. Drawing on her own experience as a former triathlete whose pursuit of performance ultimately led to burnout, she shares how Ayurveda helped her move from rigid self-monitoring to embodied self-awareness. This conversation is not about rejecting technology. It's about remembering that health is not a collection of numbers. Ayurveda teaches us that true wellbeing is dynamic, individual, seasonal, and deeply connected to our ability to listen to our body's changing needs. Colette explores how constant tracking can sometimes shift from awareness into hypervigilance, why optimization culture particularly impacts Vata and Pitta types, and how external metrics can unintentionally override intuition, self-trust, and nervous system regulation. In this episode, you'll learn: How optimization culture can disconnect us from our body's innate wisdom The difference between self-awareness and self-surveillance Why wearables and health metrics don't tell the full story How Vata and Pitta tendencies can become amplified through chronic self-monitoring Why Ayurveda views health as contextual, seasonal, and individualized The connection between nervous system safety and healing How to rebuild trust in your body's internal feedback systems Why balance is responsive rather than rigid The importance of pleasure, flexibility, and humanity in long-term wellbeing Gentle ways to reconnect with your intuition and embodied awareness This episode is an invitation to step away from the pressure to constantly improve yourself and instead cultivate a deeper relationship with your body. Because some of the most important aspects of health, joy, connection, peace, ease, and presence, can never be fully measured, but they can be deeply felt. Could your skin be reflecting what's happening in your digestive system? Colette explores the Ayurvedic understanding of the gut-skin connection and why true radiance begins from within with Vaidya Kamya Pillai. While modern research continues to uncover the relationship between the microbiome, inflammation, and skin health, Ayurveda has long taught that healthy digestion, balanced doshas, and proper nourishment are essential for clear, vibrant skin. You'll learn how Agni (digestive fire), Ama (toxic accumulation), Rasa Dhatu (the body's primary nourishing tissue) and Ojas (our vital essence), influence skin health and overall vitality. They also discuss how stress, emotions, and nervous system dysregulation can impact both digestion and complexion, and why Ayurveda views beauty as a reflection of internal balance rather than external appearance alone. In this episode you'll discover: The Ayurvedic gut-skin connection The role of Rasa Dhatu in hydration, nourishment, and radiance How Agni and Ama affect skin health The connection between the doshas, stress, and the nervous system in skin health How Vata, Pitta, and Kapha imbalances manifest in the skin Ojas and it's connection to radiant skin Ayurvedic practices to support healthy digestion and glowing skin Why true beauty begins with inner balance Whether you're dealing with acne, sensitivity, inflammation, dryness, premature aging, or simply want to cultivate a healthy natural glow, this episode offers practical Ayurvedic wisdom to support skin health from the inside out. People pleasing is often misunderstood as simply being "too nice," but for many people it's much deeper than that. It can become a nervous system survival strategy shaped by childhood conditioning, fear of rejection, emotional hypervigilance, and the longing to feel safe, accepted, loved, and connected. In this episode, Colette explores people pleasing through the lens of Ayurveda, nervous system healing, and emotional awareness. She shares how these patterns can disconnect us from our true nature and why healing involves much more than simply "setting boundaries" or "learning to say no." Drawing from both Ayurvedic wisdom and her own personal journey, Colette discusses how chronic people pleasing can manifest as anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, exhaustion, over-responsibility, insomnia, digestive imbalance, nervous system depletion, and emotional disconnection. She also explores the connection between people pleasing and the nervous system's fawn and freeze responses, and why the body may still perceive boundaries as unsafe even when the rational mind knows they are necessary. In this episode, you'll learn: Why people pleasing is often a nervous system adaptation rather than a behaviour The connection between people pleasing, the fawn response, and freeze response How childhood experiences can shape patterns of self-abandonment The Ayurvedic understanding of people pleasing through Vata and Pitta imbalances Why boundaries alone are often not enough for healing How chronic hypervigilance impacts the body, mind, digestion, hormones, and nervous system How Ayurveda supports nervous system repair, emotional awareness, embodiment, and self-trust Gentle practices to help reconnect with your voice, truth, and authentic self Check out Colette's online services: Online Consultations - https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/consultations Private Digestive Reset Cleanse - https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/digestive-reset-cleanse Online Daily Habits for Holistic Health Program - https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/daily-habits Reset-Restore-Renew Program - https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/reset-restore-renew Have questions on Colette's online services? Why is it so difficult to truly rest, even when we're exhausted? In this episode, Colette explores the deeper Ayurvedic understanding of rest, nervous system regulation, productivity culture, and the relationship between Vata and Pitta imbalance. Many people today are living in a constant state of overstimulation and "doing," leaving the nervous system unable to fully soften and restore. Colette looks at how modern culture often praises dysregulation when it looks productive, why rest can feel emotionally difficult, and how busyness can become a way of avoiding deeper feelings and disconnection from ourselves. She covers the following in this episode: Why many people struggle to truly rest The Ayurvedic understanding of nervous system dysregulation How productivity can become connected to identity and self-worth Why slowing down can sometimes feel unsafe The connection between rhythm, dinacharya and nervous system safety Why summer season can become surprisingly depleting Gentle Ayurvedic practices to calm Vata and soften excess Pitta Reconnecting with enoughness, presence and restoration This episode is a gentle reminder that rest is not laziness or something we earn only after burnout. From an Ayurvedic perspective, rest is an essential part of healing, restoration and sustainable wellbeing. Colette explores the Ayurvedic concept of Sadvritta, often translated as right living or ethical conduct , and how these timeless teachings can help us navigate modern life with more awareness, compassion, and harmony. While Ayurveda is often associated with food, herbs, and daily routines, the classical teachings remind us that true health goes far beyond the physical body. Our thoughts, beliefs, speech, and interactions with others all influence our mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing. In today's fast-paced and highly stimulated world, where disconnection, reactivity, and social tension are increasingly common, Sadvritta offers a practical and deeply relevant framework for living consciously and cultivating both personal and collective wellbeing. In this episode, Colette explores: Why Ayurveda considers ethical living essential for health The connection between the mind, relationships, and physical wellbeing How our beliefs influence the doshas and nervous system Mental ama (toxins) and the impact of overstimulation on the mind The importance of contentment and mental hygiene Social Sadvritta and the role of compassion, truthfulness, and respect in daily interactions How reactivity and disconnection affect collective wellbeing The relationship between Sadvritta and ojas (vital essence) Small daily practices to cultivate a more compassionate and conscious life Check out Colette's online services: Online Consultations https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/consultations Private Digestive Reset Cleanse https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/digestive-reset-cleanse Online Daily Habits for Holistic Health Program https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/daily-habits Reset-Restore-Renew Program https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/reset-restore-renew Elements of Ayurveda Podcast Community https://www.elementshealingandwellbeing.com/community Have questions on Colette's online services? What does integrity truly mean in Ayurveda and why does it matter now more than ever? In today's rapidly expanding global wellness space, conversations around ethics, responsibility, and authenticity are becoming increasingly important. While this episode doesn't focus on specific events, it acknowledges that moments of rupture in any healing tradition can serve as powerful invitations to return to its roots, back to awareness, accountability, and integrity. In this episode, I'm joined by Vaidya Jayarajan Kodikannath, CEO and Academy Director of Kerala Ayurveda (USA), he brings both traditional wisdom and modern perspective to this essential conversation. Together, we explore the ethical foundations of Ayurveda, the responsibilities of practitioners and teachers, and how integrity can be embodied in both personal practice and professional life. In this episode, we discuss: What integrity means within the context of Ayurveda Why this conversation is especially relevant in today's global wellness landscape The role of dharma in guiding ethical decision-making What is a dharma-based business in Ayurveda Marketing your Ayurveda business with integrity How to cultivate discernment and inner authority when navigating the wellness space Subtle ways integrity can be compromised, even unintentionally The importance of self-awareness and personal practice in maintaining professional integrity Ayurveda as a consciouness-based medicine Ayurveda is more than a system of health, it's a path of conscious living rooted in awareness, responsibility, and alignment with natural law. As the tradition continues to evolve and expand globally, maintaining its integrity becomes a shared responsibility. This conversation offers both practitioners and students an opportunity to reflect, deepen their understanding, and reconnect with the values that uphold Ayurveda at its core.
