Scripture: Mark 7:1–8, Romans 13 The Pharisees and teachers of the law looked devoted to God. They knew Scripture, followed many religious traditions, and appeared very obedient. But when they criticized Jesus’ disciples for eating without performing a ceremonial washing, Jesus revealed what was truly happening beneath their outward appearance: they honored God with their words, but their hearts were far from Him. Scripture: Mark 6:30–44; Psalm 23:1; John 10:11  Jesus and his disciples are searching for a quiet place to rest—but thousands of people follow them. When Jesus sees the crowd, he has deep compassion because they are like sheep without a shepherd. In this episode, children will hear how Jesus miraculously feeds more than five thousand people with only five loaves and two fish. They’ll discover that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who sees, cares for, and provides for his sheep. The disciples could not perform the miracle, but Jesus invited them to participate. They brought him what they had and trusted him to do what only he could do. Mark 6:14–29  & Proverbs 16:18 PARENTS: Because children of many different ages and stages listen to this podcast, a few details in this account have been carefully adapted while remaining faithful to what Scripture teaches. In this episode, we do not include the graphic details of John’s death. In today’s episode, we hear what happened to John the Baptist after he courageously confronted King Herod about his sin. Herod knew John was a righteous and holy man—and he even liked listening to him. But when Herod had to choose between doing what was right and protecting his reputation, pride took over. Kids will learn that pride is more than bragging. Pride says, “I know best,” and places our desires above God’s Word. We’ll also discover why simply hearing God’s truth is not the same as believing, repenting, and obeying. What We’ll Learn John courageously spoke God’s truth—even when it was scary. Hearing God’s Word is not the same as obeying it. Pride can make us care more about looking good than doing what is right. Mark 6:1-6 Jesus goes home to Nazareth — and sees the people who watched Him grow up. They know His mother, His brothers, His sisters. Isn't that just the carpenter? They think and when He stands up in the synagogue and teaches with astonishing wisdom, they don't fall to their knees. They fold their arms. In this episode we walk through the verse that says "And he could do no mighty work there." Was Jesus not strong enough? Not for one second. Kids will learn why the King held back the joy of His kingdom from a town that had shut the door on Him — and why sometimes a big danger isn't doubting Jesus, but getting used to Him. Mark 10:35–45 In today’s episode, we hear the surprising story of James and John asking Jesus a very big question — and how the other disciples reacted!  Jesus teaches them (and us!) something amazing — true greatness doesn’t come from bossing people around or being first. It comes from serving others, just like Jesus did. He is the King of kings, but He came to help, love, and give His life for us. At the end, we talk about simple ways kids can follow Jesus’ example this week - to keep their eyes open for ways to be a helper. Helpers serve and whether it’s big or small, it makes a  difference.  They are reminded that when you help someone, you are serving — just like Jesus did. Spent everything. And nothing had worked. But she had heard about Jesus—and she believed that if she could just get close enough to touch His cloak, she would be healed. And she was. Instantly. But then Jesus stopped and asked, "Who touched me?" The disciples thought it was a silly question—everyone was touching Him! So why did Jesus stop and ask? Today we find out. We also meet Jairus—an important man who falls at Jesus' feet and begs Him to come heal his dying daughter. Jesus agrees and heads that way. But then the news arrives: "Your daughter is dead." Series: Mark Part 16Scripture: Mark 5:1–20 In today’s episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark and see Jesus step onto the shore in the region of the Gerasenes. There, He meets a man who is suffering terribly and living among the tombs. This story includes demons, sometimes the Bible also calls them unclean spirits, but we handle this carefully and remind kids of the most important truth: Jesus is stronger than darkness. As Jesus speaks with authority, the unclean spirits must obey Him. The man who had been alone, hurting, and in bondage is restored. When the people come and see him, he is sitting with Jesus, dressed, and in his right mind. What a beautiful picture of mercy and rescue. This episode helps kids see that Jesus does not only save and restore people so they can keep it to themselves. He gives His people a story to tell. Wherever Jesus places us—at home, with friends, at school, or in our community—we can tell others how much the Lord has done. Scripture: Mark 4:35–41 Series: Mark Part 15 Have you ever been in a storm and felt afraid? In today’s episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark and hear the incredible story of Jesus calming the storm. After a long day of teaching, Jesus and His disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee by boat. Many of the disciples were experienced fishermen, so they knew storms well—but this storm was terrifying. Today’s Key Truth:Storms do not mean Jesus has left us or stopped loving us. Jesus is powerful over creation, and He is also loving toward His people. When life feels scary, we can turn to Him, pray, ask for help, and remember His love shown clearly at the cross. This episode is part of our Gospel of Mark series. Scripture: Mark 4:1–20 In this episode, we continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark as Jesus teaches beside the lake and tells the Parable of the Sower. Jesus uses the picture of a farmer scattering seed to help us understand what happens in our hearts when we hear God’s Word. Kids will be invited to ask: How do I respond when I hear God's word ? In this story, the seed represents God’s Word, and the different soils represent the different ways people respond when they hear it. Some hearts are distracted, some seem joyful at first but have no root, some are crowded by worries and desires, and some receive the Word, accept it, and produce fruit. Big Takeaways: God’s Word is like seed planted in our hearts. Jesus teaches that people respond to God’s Word in different ways. Sin can make our hearts hard, shallow, distracted, or crowded. We need Jesus to forgive us, change us, and help us receive His Word by faith. Mark 3:1–6 In today’s story, Jesus enters a synagogue on the Sabbath and meets a man with a shriveled hand. While others watch closely—waiting to see if Jesus will break their rules—Jesus does something unexpected. He heals. But instead of celebrating, the religious leaders become angry. Why?
