S2E10 Gotta Catch ’Em All (Bird Pokémon) We recorded this Episode in July and I just haven't gotten around to the edits until now. Chris and I FINALLY sit down to discuss Ruby and Sapphire on the Gameboy Advance. I personally didn't play these games so it was great to get Chris' insight into the new aspects they added into the games, as well as the overall impression of them. Because I am editing this so much later than the recording, I didn't want to delay things further by adding in a "Checkpoint" section. I'll add the notes here instead: - Chris is correct and Pokémon Crystal was the first game to allow you to be a female protagonist. - Pokémon Contests are really confusing. I feel like my questions didn't totally clear up the process. You enter a Pokémon of your choice into a specific Contest (Cool, Beauty, Tough, etc.). A Pokémon's moves have a specific clearly labeled contest stat and when you use it, the judge and audience reaction derives a score. Different aspects of a Pokémon (like Nature) gave them a starting advantage in the contests along with...Pokeblocks?! While digging into this some more, the contests were quite complicated and confusing for many players. I really enjoyed the description of the Gen 3 contests featured by this Youtuber (alyo) to get a brief grasp of how it all worked: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX_UN38vab0&t=58s - I realized only during editing that I mentioned I like Corsola as a new addition. Corsola was introduced in Gen II (Gold/Silver) and not Gen III. Whoops! End of Cour Spring 2023 It was a season of plenty here in Spring 2023! We all watched way too much stuff and you're gonna hear about it, so sit back and get comfortable! Note: This cast is 1:40:00. We didn't pick a stop point to split this into two casts, so just a warning that this one is REALLY long compared to what we have done previously. In addition to all the great things Brendan said about My Clueless First Friend he wanted to add: "Also I forgot to explicitly bring up Self-Loathing as part of Kasahara's character arc in Clueless First Friend. Long ago, fire became even deadlier to humans than before. Anyone too close to natural flame would combust, causing a global disaster that drove humanity into darkness. Many years into the rebuilding of the world, two young people become embroiled in the struggles between powerful factions and must brave monsters, divine magic, and a wildly fluctuating quality of animation to survive a confoundingly vague plot.
